Tech Appreciation Society

Well today used my PIF Win Pre Way Vintage Ball End Tech, I got from @gpjoe, with a London Bridge Super Stainless Blade. Day Two use of Blade.

This Tech Razor in my world does a great job for a 80+ year Old Razor, got an 8.5 Rating. How could this be, can say, but Razor worked well., like it did Pre World War II when new. Was wondering if this could have been my Dad’s old Razor when he was in WW - II, in USMM on Liberty Ships, or SS Borinquen?

Some fellow could have been shaving with his new Tech razor the day Pearl Harbor was attacked 83 years ago yesterday.

Now you own it!

Razor: English Gillette Four Piece travel Tech.

Razor: Gillette Tech L2 ( 2nd quarter, 1966), Made for South American Market
Blade: Nacet
Brush: Arno 26mm, Manchurian 2-band badger fan, Jade Palace
Soap: Barrister and Mann - Fougere Classique
A/S: Pinaud Clubman - Special Reserve
EdP: Boss - The Scent Intense

What a shave. I popped a fresh Nacet in this Tech today and had an amazing shave. BBS- with one little weeper but no irritation.

I took three passes today (WTG, WTG, ATG/XTG), which is unusual for me since I only do two passes WTG with cleanups. But I had copious amounts of lather from the B&M soap and this Manchurian badger brush, so I decided to go for a third pass. Did try some XTG on the front neck area and that cleaned up very well. I just might include XTG for cleanup in next few shaves.

Here is Question about TECH's, my personal observation is of MY Two Tech, post war Ball Handle is much milder, then Pre War Fat Handle. Could I be correct or having dementia?

Well it’s your observation so I would suggest you are right. And as for the comparison my prewar shaves amazingly smooth. The postwar I have is from the UK and feels more aggressive and effective actually.

Finally got my hands on a Pre-War Canada Tech today and it was an interesting shave compared to the others in my stable. I would say, from the first run, slightly more blade-forward and efficient versus the US Pre-War equivalent and I had a closer DFS shave today to prove it. I'll keep this same blade locked in for the next shave to compare. Very interesting indeed.

Your experience has echoed mine so far. I wouldn't say it's night and day but if we're talking about Techs from the same provenance, like the US Pre vs. US Post-War, I do notice a difference in efficiency and feel. Blade choice also comes into play as always. Take one blade you like, run it in your Post-War ball end one day, then your Pre-War fat handle the next and see where you're at.
