Tabac Soap with Bowl - $13.99 shipped, Refill $10.99 shipped

A fellow international member at this forum (prefers to stay anonymous) was been kind enough to place an order for a puck for me along with a puck+bowl at this site. He reported that he was give a partial refund for amount of the Bowl+soap. At the same time he got a shipment notification for the Tabac refill pucks he had ordered. He has now placed another order for the refill pucks to fill in for the bowl !!

So it appears that if you go in just for the pucks they might honor the transactions.

Ordered this from Fragrance X and waited 2 weeks with nothing in the mail or any email notification. Then I just randomly recieved a refund from them and with no explanation.

So I decided to pay a little more and go with a vendor that I know and trust and ordered from bullgooseshaving.net and recieved my Tabac 2 days later.

No more Fragrance X for me.

I just called them to see where their located and whether or not it's a common occurrence for them to not honor orders. The guy told me " Well, we get 1000's of orders everyday and although some may not be filled most are." He then asked me what I wanted to order. I told him, and he said that it shouldn't be a problem. Their located somewhere in N.Y I don't know exactly where as it was really hard to hear him he had a super soft voice.

This is just my opinion. I would say what happened is they switched their cart to free shipping and weren't thinking of this. I would say the soap/bowl is heavy and more costly to ship. So they made up the story that they were damaged, I received the same reply. Anyway, I wouldn't think you will ever get it at that price, I could definitely be wrong. If you don't email who knows if/when they will ever get around to sending your refund.

Again, just my opinion...

I've bought (and received) 1 bowl of tabac from fragrancex (in fact I've ordered 4 more refill pucks later, and received them as well). Given the fact that I live in Brazil, I think that if they would not ship for free to someone, that someone would be me!

That said, I think you had the bad luck to order some of the last tabac they had in stock and that stock was damaged.

I'd wait a few weeks and try ordering again.

EDIT: Thought I'd mention for anyone from NY that the total price for the soap in the bowl came to be $15.18 shipped after sales tax. Cheapest I've seen; if anyone else has seen it at a better price, let me know!

This sounded interesting and I just went to the site, but the photo displayed by the link was for a REFILL and not a bowl and soap. I was curious about this. Can you check the link where it displays just the puck and let us know how to see the bowl too? Thanks.

But it is true, the bowl is just out of stock! I've bought mine before it went out of stock and received it without any problem.

After Fragrance X cancelled my order, I ordered and received a puck and bowl from fragrance-usa.com shipped for less than $20. I see they're asking $21.99 for it today.

I got my Tabac refill yesterday and had my first shave with it this morning. It fit perfectly in one of my King Arthur Flour coffee mugs. This stuff is sweet. It whipped up the best lather I have ever used. I had a wonderful shave with my Gillette adjustable.

I had the same experience, but luckily I've been following the thread. When my Tabac-in-a-bowl was canceled, I turned right around and ordered a refill puck. 11 bucks shipped was still a great deal. Three days later and I have it in my hot little hands.

Fragrance X is a good company IMO. I think they must have a crazy high volume of sales every day. I ordered the Tabac with bowl when they still had it and received a few days later no problems. A few months later out of the blue, I get a refund from FragranceX.com for 13.99 in my Paypal account. I contacted them and everything was set right.

I have bought colognes and other items with no problems, but a few strange things have happened probably due to high volume sales.

I think they pulled it from stock as they might have been losing money on the bowl and soap.
