SV Saturday

Great Saturday!

Make it a great day!

How does everyone dry their soap afterwards? Leave it in the tin?

I follow the SV instructions to cover with water and then load from there, but I always end up taking the puck out and rinsing the container clean then letting the puck dry before putting it back. Call me lazy but it’s a bit of a hassle to do every time and sometimes the puck just doesn’t want to come out when the water and lather is in there.

I tend to just put the top back on and put in cabinet :)
sometimes I leave it out though but I use a wrung out brush so not much water in when getting the lather
also I live in AZ so ultra low humidity already but when I get a new puck it feels the same as my well used ones (as in no softer no harder)

SV Saturday

Hello friends

Cloudy Saturday. Inspired by BADGERary 2025, I chose a brush that I rarely use, but whenever I use it I come to the conclusion that I should use more, Yaqi Moka Express (Two Band Badger/26mm). It was 20 dollars very well spent. SV Morado is increasingly climbing my shelf and with Floïd The Genuine it makes a divine combination. For my 24-hour beard, I chose Greencult 2.0 II with a brand new Brazilian Wilkinson Sword.

With us, Nancy Wilson and the George Shearing Quintet.

Rating: 10

Have a wonderful weekend and great shaves!

I leave it on the vanity, open to dry just a bit. Whatever soap residue is left is used for the next shave. I find that SV is like MdC… it gets very thirsty.

Nice choice of music. I had a great uncle that was a producer for Discovery Records, which was a label for George.

SV Saturday

Razor:
Muhle R89
Blade: Silver Star (4)
Brush: Muhle Kosmo STF
Soap: SV Desert Vetiver
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Creme
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water

Tonight for the first SV Saturday of the year it was the turn of Desert Vetiver and in a departure from my usual M.O. I decided to go with the R89 for comfort rather than efficiency. I enjoyed using it the other day and tonight it was like I'd barely shaved, except for the fact that I had a near BBS to show for it.
I forgot to mention last night that I had a haircut on Friday after 13 months without one. Now my hair stays out of the way when I'm shaving which is a relief.

SV Saturday 4th January

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, KCG #9
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave

I used Opuntia for SV Saturday. Back to my favourite Game Changer, for an easy near-BBS. My festive choice of blade is still holding up.

As for drying the soap, I don't concern myself with it, but do I keep my shaving stuff in the warm, dry living-room.

I let my SV soaps expand, hydrate, and soon weld themselves to the sides of their aluminium containers, I think they are intended to do that.
