Strong Leopard Shavette With Antelope Blades

Just noticed that this seller has the shavette we all know and love but with a different locking mechanism. Anyone tried it? It has "Huerbo" on the handle, but I've seen that written on the other style of shavette too. Maybe this is a new model. Old model?

Nice. It will be good to hear what you think of those blades.

That locking method is how the strong leopard - mentioned earlier in this thread - works.

Oh, they sent you that type? The only ones I'd seen before look like this:

I would have ordered that self locking design, and I would if I hadn't found this thread. But since it is a Chinese enterprise for 15 USD, it may come in a "newer" version, which is already selling for 8-9 USD. Better check it with the seller.

Gosh this thread is just getting deeper and deeper - I love it!!
This is like discovering a whole new continent of shaving.

Good shave with the 77-A last night. Only my second time out but I'm coming to like this razor!

I totally agree Brian!
I'm coming to think that the 77-A is actually as good as the Feathers and Kais.
Imagine if they made a Kamisori version!

I'm not a fan of the kamisori models. Tried a few and sold them all!
Have you tried the 74-A model? (Is that the name? Looks like the 77-A but uses whole DE blades..) Haven't tried mine yet. Inadvertently ended up with two of them! Haha!

Yes I've got the DE version too - it's got a lot of blade exposure and it's a bit crude compared to the Universals and Vantas but still a great shave and a good feel in the hand - the short tang and extra weight took a bit of getting used to.
But I suppose we've got to just face the facts that these are excellent razors!

Another good shave today with my A-77. I noticed it doesn't say "Strong Leopard," though, it says "Huerbo." Looks exactly the same otherwise!

Antelope blades
Both Antelope blades are stainless steel. Maybe one of the blades is coated with something. Tried asking around but couldn't find out the difference between the two.

I've used just one of the so-called Senior blades. It feels sharper than the Super Antelope but not as sharp as the Jishis. The first shave was a bit rough, but afterwards it mellowed out. I can get a good shave with it - have to do three passes or two plus a bit of blade buffing. If I'd tried some of these tricks with the Jishi blades, I'd have sliced my face off.

I need to keep playing with these Antelope blades and come to a conclusion. And I've two different Cloud blades to try (unfortunately can't find the Hong Kong / Bruce Lee ones).

Cloud and Antelope shavettes
My Cloud shavette arrived today. It's a bit smaller and lighter than the Antelope, but they both look a bit cheap. I admit I'm starting to prefer these light shavettes - the long Vanta's growing on me, and I enjoy the feel of the Antelope in my hand.

Just had a great shave with my magenta (not pink) Cloud shavette. It holds the blade just fine, it's fun, manoeuvrable. If you drop it, it's likely to survive.

I don't know if you've ever heard Sedef or Ali Biyikli straight razors from Turkey. They are simple blade holders made for half DE blades but I realized that they had in fact 5.5mm long lips. I tried an Antelope blade just shortened by half a cm. It makes quite a slim full blade shavette out of that flimsy holder.

You made it fit real nice in there.
