Steep Angle Shavers Alliance

I generally use a shallow angle (FORGIVE ME!!!!!). But with my New Improved a steep angle provides a marvelously smooth, close shave. So that's what I go with. So steep away!

I've started DE shaving about 11 months ago, and I've been using a shallow angle (with great results).

Recently, though, I started experimenting with steep-angle shaving. I mean, that safety bar is there for a reason, right? Well, let me tell you, steep has been a revelation. Every razor I've revisited with a steep angle has shaved more efficiently than shallow. Efficiency pleases me greatly.

I am a steep-angle convert. I'm in.

I am considering pledging to this fine alliance, but admittedly am still a young pup in my wet shaving journey.

I have a question for ye experienced SASA members. Do you have varying results? How many that own a Blackbird find that the exact opposite angle (steep) from what Shane at Blackland prescribes works considerably better than the shallow angle? Do you get similar results with say a Muhle R41, or do you find this varies razor to razor?

I believe I get my best results from the Blackbird with a steep angle, but neutral to shallow with the R41. Does this make sense? I would hate to pledge my alliance knowing it is marred in controversy.

SASA all the way! I use a steep angle with all of my Blackbird SB, Vector SB, Dart, Wolfman WR2 1.25, Above The Tie X1 Slant and CH1 DE, Lambda Athena, Colonial Razors The General V2, Rocnel Sailor 2022L, all my vintage Gillette Techs, etc., etc., etc.

I have lately been using more Injectors and today I used a GEM Featherweight.
I have now realized that I can ONLY be SASA with DE razors LOL 🤣
I am definitely not going to consider going steep with a GEM 🤣
Just not that brave

That is exactly why I have only used my Bullet tip once. I did less cap riding than the suggested angle is called for.

Do us steep shavers tend to stir the pot more regarding shaving technique more than the other clubs since it goes against what I've read to be conventional wisdom? Honest question. I know I'm on the internet where you can find a person who will argue with you over just about anything but some things seem more controversial once you're on either side of the bell curve.

Perhaps, I find we are more interested in finding out shaving angles in razor reviews and if shallow or steep was used in the evaluation.

Interesting. For some reason whenever i try to go Steepish/neutral atg on the upper lip i get pore sized blood spots because it rips out the hair?? When i go shallow i don't get that. So are you guys shaving neutral to steep atg on the upper lip?
