Picking up a bottle of Lagavulin 16 I’ll get to sample it this weekend, I’ll keep your additional recommendations in mind moving forward!The safe bet would be Lagavulin 16 but it’s pricey. To dip your toes in I would get some or the other Islay Blend that don’t state a single distillery or age statement but is still a Single Malt.
Islay with few exceptions is about peat but how much you like you have to decide yourself.
Bruichladdich 10 would be an easy, Laphroig Quarter Cask a hard start
Independent bottlers will bring you expressions of the region for a good price.
