SV Saturday

Hello friends

A hot and overcast Saturday. For the longest day of the year, I chose SV Felce Aromatica. Together with Omega Jade, Greencult 2.0 IV and Perma-Sharp (3), they gave me a fabulous shave. I finished with Brut Original.

Joe Robinson with us.

Rating: 10

Have a nice weekend and great shaves!

SE SOTD, Saturday, December 21st 2024

Razor : Yaqi Katana SE head (1/2 DE blade) with a Yaqi retracting handle. Mfg 2019>, tame mid range. Interesting clamping design but needs blade bumped with a paper tuck under a light load & then tighten. Works well and is affordable for a majority of folks IMO.
Blade : Astra SP(2) sharp and smooth with great longevity.
Soap : Speick stick, nice mild spicy scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Cola" 22 mm plissoft knot. Interesting brush small with some back bone in knot.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ach Brito Lavanda with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 9.5.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Katana SE with a Astra SP blade. Nice change of shave gear with great results.

December 21, 2024 Saturday shave

Razor: Schick L type Injector, NEW old stock
Blade: Schick Chinese (1)
Soap: Barrister and Mann Le Grand Chypre
Brush: Paladin Tut w/Muhle STF XL
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Aftershave: Fine Snake Bite

Well, today I went totally off the reservation! Today marks the first use of a new Schick Injector model L razor. It was the first time in nearly 50 years that I've used an injector. My last one was stolen while working offshore in the Java sea in 1976. Anyway, I've had this new razor for 9 months and decided that today was the day to try it out. I'm sorry I waited so long!

First impression: This is cheating! To my surprise, this razor gave me a great, smooth, no drama shave, just like @spacemonkey42 said it would. Even the "Chick" blade was very good. I'm happy that another razor has quickly entered the Hall of Fame in my shave den. Schick should do themselves a favor and start producing this razor again!

All the other elements of the shave were terrific, as well. This was a tremendously enjoyable shave!

Haven't posted in quite some time, but today's shave was too good not to share -
Razor: King Cobra
Blade: Feather Pro
Pre-Shave: Gentlemens Refinery Shave Oil (my last bottle, alas)
Lather: Cremo Sandalwood
After: Aftelier Frankincense Face & Body Balm (this stuff is amazing, not to mention seasonal.)

Razor: Gillette Sheraton (c.1937-39)
Blade: Gillette Nacet, 4th use
Brush: Edwin Jagger Synthetic Silvertip
Bowl: Dirty Bird “Bill” Bowl
Preshave: Art of Shaving Lavender Oil
Soap: Tabac Original
Balm: Nivea “Sensitive Soothing” Balm
Additional Care: Proraso Alum

A five star shave today. Nacet blade is holding up well, smooth as ever. The Art of Shaving lavender pre-shave oil is always a great. The Gillette Sheraton is gentle and efficient. So impressed by this design. Aces!
