I received a package yesterday so today’s shave was full of exciting new toys. My first go with the FOCS was not disappointing. It looks meaner than it is. This is my first experience with an open comb and also my first experience with a slant. I quite like the stable feel of the torqued blade. The Semogue SOC Taj was a delight to use, even on the first shave. The Cella confirms my suspicions that the Italians know what they’re doing in regards to good quality, affordable shave soaps.
Head Shave~
Prep: Hot Shower, Proraso beard wash and exfoliating scrub (on the beard and scalp).
Pre: Coconut Oil
Brush: Semogue SOC Taj
Soap: Cella
Razor: FOCS
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Post: Warm rinse, alum, cold rinse, Thayers WH, Proraso Red Balm.
Soundtrack: Long Season by Fishmans
WTG, ATG, touch ups.
One point deducted for a small nick on my ear. Otherwise it was a very effortless and smooth shave. BBS 9/10
I’ve been using a technique on my ATG pass/ touch ups where I’ll scoop some lather with my left hand and use it to find the missed patches of hair and also pull the skin tight, following with the razor with my right hand. Is there a name for this? Buffing?
Have a good Friday folks!
