Simpson 2 Band Brushes

I've only experienced on two band Simpson a couple years ago, a used T2 from the BST. The hair was different, but not for me.

I shied away from them for a long time, but have always been drawn to them and their handles, history etc.

Long story short, a 2-band Manchurian M7 will be in my hands in about a week.

Very much looking forward to it for many reasons....handle, hair etc.

That's going to be a great brush, Bruce.

Awesome find! I 'd love to have an M7 one day... the cross between the Tulip and the Emperor is the M7 and to me would be great in either two band SilverTip or two band Manchurian! Actually given the choice it would be a tough call...

I've tried an M7 with soft-tipped Manchurian and it was terrific. While I generally prefer 2-band Super's reduced stiffness, either one would have been the nearly perfect combo of handle and hair.

Butterscotch is icing on the cake. If you're lucky enough to have got one with soft Manchurian, it will instantly become a favorite.

Well, it has been a LONG month. I purchased this brush a month ago from a friend and had it delivered to my USA relatives to save on shipping, customs and duty. I then had to wait until my folks headed down for their annual visit and had them drive it up for me.

I took official delivery of it today, ran it through a quick cleaning and rinse and then put it to use.

Clearly it is the softer of the Manchurian offerings, had zero scritch or scrub and absolutely surpassed all my expectations and hopes for it.

It is my first Simpson in quite some time and my reintroduction to them couldn't have come with a more iconic or self desired brush. The M7 has been on my list of wants since I started wet shaving and I still have an email in my sent box to Mark for one, which I never followed through on back in late 2011.

The handle rod is stunning and a bit darker and richer then my other butterscotch, the Lee7. The knot is what I consider hybrid, ultra soft, splayed and bloomed nicely during my face lather with it. The knot is set perfectly in the handle, tight but not stuffed and has the tinyist bit of micro-play between handle and knot when pressed (just as I prefer) and only the slightest indication of any 'glue bump' can be detected if you really look for it.

Not to mention the pure beauty of the handle shape, engraved branding and hair grade and Tulip shelf.

Here are a couple shots of it after it's first use:

My borrowed butterscotch had a tighter knot, but the tips were so soft and the flowthrough so great that it completely changed my thinking on Manchurians. The tips are the key. Great lookin' brush you have there.

Bruce, that is a wonderful looking brush Mark has done for you............. Manchurian grade hair is so very different to the other offerings, nothing else compares for me the style of the handle is the key no matter what grade of hair is used. This will no doubt give you years of happy shaving Enjoy.

beautiful brush. I remember when they had that brush on the simpson's website and to put it simply no other limited edition ever spoke to me the way that one did. Not that I bought it, or any other LE, however I have a manchurian incoming now from BST. Perhaps it'll change my mind.

Thanks guys, it truly is a great brush and has no faults based on my few shaves with it and careful inspection.

I'd go so far as to say, it may be a top 2 brush for me overall and performs like a champ. My M&F Beehive 2 with Heritage Hybrid Fan hair, is likely the other contender for top 2 overall brush taking into account: build, feel, hair, knot set and most importantly performance. I am not taking into account price or ease of obtaining.

I have yet to experience Rooney or M&F Finest, which is about the last grade of hair that I want to try. M&F Finest is on a real short list and when the time is right and I can get a hold of Lee, I hope to cross that one off too. My original Lee7 from late 2011/early 2012, may have what is now considered Finest in it, but I have nothing to measure it against.
