After shaving 15 years (Rookie number, I know!) using Cartridge Razor, I just had enough. I don't suffer from a thick beard or much Ingrown Hair, but shaving was a chore for me. With each passing year, the Cartridge prices are just kept increasing.
One fine evening while in YouTube, a video was recommended to me that Safety Razor is really not dangerous as people think, and suddenly I remembered all my father figures using a kit like these when I was young, and doing some funny faces that I used to mimic. I fell into a rabbit hole for more than two weeks. I was reading Reddit and watching Youtube videos like crazy and finally things were making sense to me. I also found this awesome community while researching razor blade and felt like these people will probably embrace me too.
However, after working 5 years in the industry, I have just started Grad College again and money for leisure is tight right now, along with very limited time for personal grooming. Still, took the plunge and got a Henson Razor (Dr. Squatch version, of course) two weeks ago. I chose this razor, as I wanted to get a handle of this way of shaving first without wasting too much time.
After the first shave, for the first time Denim Black After Shave didn't burn my face like I was used to and finally, I understood this movement. I still nicked myself by being overconfident, but learning a lot in the process.
For brush, already got the Yaqi 24MM Sagrada Familia and waiting for the Arko Shaving Soap to arrive. For shaving bowl, got the Mainstay Salsa Bowl (Don't let my brokeness offend you, please!).
I have yet to discover the razor blade I pair for life, the shaving soap scent that will make me smile, the over the top shaving routine that will make my wife question my mental health.
