You're starting at the very top, my friend. Like having an Aston Martin as your first and only car. The Chubby 2 2-Band is probably and arguably among the Top 3 face lathering brushes ever made, especially with the current batch of 2-Band hair from Simpson - it can also be used for bowl lathering, but get a medium sized scuttle for that.
The small bowl in the stand is for a small soap, not for mixing creams in.

Get a high quality soap, heat it up a bit, squeeze it down to fit in the metal bowl. Let it stay there. Buy a scuttle for lathering creams and soaking your brsh in. Can get a good quality Dirty Brd scuttle for $40 or so that will last you a life time.

You got some of the highest quality stuff - congratulations. Thank your future wife, tell her she got you top quality, high luxury gear

Do not heat tallow based soap. Grate it and press it.

Used the stuff this morning. Futur razor on setting 4 loaded with a feather blade. Amazing shave. The smell coming from the Sandlewood was pricesless combined with the ASB and cologne my god, the wife couldnt take her hands off me this morning. Got to work late and sargeant was not too happy but oh well. Got to make the lady happy. And the chubby 2 brush, lathered without a problem. Needed to dip it in water 2 times but it created such fluffy lather. My face loved it and so did my futur wife.

If you can, give T&H Spanish Leather a whirl. My wife goes crazy over it, and I always get comments about it at work. When it comes to scents, you are hard pressed to beat the T&H lineup, IMO.
