I never realized there were so many odd shavette style razors and hair shapers out there. It seems it’s own hobby, trying all the crazy blades and blade holders!
Who is up for a good old fashioned box cutter shave?

Or maybe just a handheld GEM?
You all are crazy! In a good way, as long as it is your skin in play…![]()
The holder itself is the same kind that I use at work, for opening boxes. The one I use there uses a GEM designed box cutter blade that is interchangeable. I'd be lying if the idea of not taking one of those holders home and load them with one of the GEM blades I got for shaving at home havent crossed my mind. When we are on the topic about holders.Mate I'm no expert by any means but I know there are Gem blades that are box cutters that are meant to be terrible for shaving. Hopefully you got the right one's.

I am still working on this head shaving with the Feather DX.
I have learned a lot and can get a great shave at times. I even recently made progress on ATG on the scalp with the shavette.
A few recent lessons have been that I find guarded blades irritating and the cause of redness and scapes. Unguarded blades don’t irritate and rarely scrape, but they are more prone to cuts/nicks.
Additionally I learned that a the “one spine width angle” is better than a too low angle and pulling tension on the scalp helps in all grain directions, even required to achieve a decent safe ATG pass.
The trouble that plagues me is time. It takes longer and I have limited time in the morning (rushing is bad). Also, so far I can’t seem to shave with the shavette and an unguarded blade without causing 2-4 small nicks. These nicks red up on my scalp and take a week or more to fully disappear.
So, if I shavette shave 3 days in a week, I have accumulated 9 (plus or minus) nicks that are noticeable. That bugs me. Too many and then my scalp needs a rest.
I hope over time, I cause fewer and fewer nicks. I could tolerate one a week for example. But in the meantime, I go to work looking like I had a run in with an angry cat.
That said, I recently had the absolute worse shaving cut in my 4 years of head shaving with my DE safety razor, not the shavette. Just moving it around too fast on the back of my neck and whacked my self wrong. The shavette could have been worse, but I would never handle it in such a cavalier way!
That is a really good idea. I could always shavette in the evening and if needed touch up with the bulletproof shave of the proof whiskey razor in the morning shower. Is there no way you could move to shaving in the evening or night. I know that's what I had to do. I was rushing and slicing my face to the point where I was seriously thinking of throwing in the towel. Now I can really enjoy my shaves and have time to experiment a bit if I want to.
Are you using the Kai Captain Titan ProTouch MG for guarded blades?I am still working on this head shaving with the Feather DX.

I have tried all the available guarded blades and all of them irritate and scrape my skin. I just gave up on them. They sure did prevent the little nicks and cuts (not completely) but I prefer a nick to a swath of rawness. Are you using the Kai Captain Titan ProTouch MG for guarded blades?
I don't shave my head but that one works well for me for the face with my DX razors.
This arrived today, 10 bucks (plus shipping) on the 'bay. It's not mint, but not terrible.
It came with one of the original blades, which I swapped with a new Personna blade for the pic. I was kind of surprised by the thickness and stiffness of the old blade...of course those were intended to be honed/stropped.
I also got the original instruction booklet, which is kinda cool, but no box. Still, for 15 bucks, I'm happy. I've been wanting to try a Weck Sexto with a full-size plastic handle.

Can someone tell me the date range on these? I'm curious about the age.
