After two weeks of diligent practice without a blade loaded, I finally had my first shave with the Feather AC shavette. I prepared a more hydrated lather than I usually do and I started with a very shallow angle (almost flat against my face), slightly adjusting as I made my first stroke. During my first pass my strokes were very short but I made longer strokes during my second pass. I did feel a bit of tugging during the shave, but I guess that may have had to do with my technique. The angle probably wasn't entirely right.

Initially, I planned to only shave the cheeks but as I was going along I decided to try my hand at the neck as well. While the shave was a bit better on the cheeks, the neck technique still needs quite a bit of work.

I did two WTG passes with the shavette, followed by two passes (WTG, ATG/XTG) with the R89. After that I called it a day. I managed for a solid CCS this time.

I had a styptic pencil and my alum block ready just in case, but luckily didn't need them.

My goal for now is to hone my shavette shaving technique, so that I can achieve a DFS at least on the cheeks while slowly improving my neck shaving technique as well.

I also got the plastic cover for the Feather AC SS Kamisori, which is great to store the shavette safely when a blade is loaded. The cover is nicely designed as it has a "window" which enables to see whether a blade is loaded or not. Very practical to have when storing the Kamisori in a drawer or when traveling.

Can you please post a pic of the cover? I have that clear plastic fold over thingie for my SR as a travel case but haven’t used it so far. Opening it without the Shavette is a little bit finicky.

Didn't have a photo with the shavette in its cover. I PM'ed @Multum in parvo with a photo of the cover by itself, which is pretty much equivalent to the DX/SR cover. The mechanism is indeed quite finicky, since the upper plastic holders clamp the two halves of the cover pretty strongly. It's advisable to try to loosen the grip of those first before attempting to open the cover, otherwise there's the danger of breaking those "clampers" when applying too much force. I attach here the photo I have sent @Multum in parvo

Mate that's a great first shavette shave. I still have a small scar from my first attempt.

My second shave with the Feather AC SS Kamisori shavette wasn't very successful. I basically didn't cut any whiskers, especially on the neck. While I felt and heard that there was some cutting action, after the lather was gone my face didn't look shaven at all.

Initially I thought it was due to bad prep, maybe a dud blade or some other factor, but I think it has something to do with technique. I go very shallow with the Feather and exert no pressure. I realized the difference in pressure I apply, when I switched to the Yates. Maybe I need to add a nudge of pressure, but I tend to think that instead I need to adjust the angle slightly. The Feather did cut, it just wasn't very close at all, and basically I had no impact on the whiskers on my neck. I went with two passes WTG with the Feather and when that didn't work I finished with a 3-pass shave with the Yates. That did the job for a nice BBS- finish.

I also have to say that I was tackling three days of growth, but I don't think that should be a problem with the Feather Shavette.

Despite the lackluster performance today, I'm not deterred nor discouraged. After all, my very first DE shave wasn't anything to write home about either.

Still no dice. The Kamisori didn't cut, which led me to believe that indeed the blade may be a dud. So I changed to a new one - same thing.

My prep should have been okay. I made sure that my beard was sufficiently wet, and I prepared a very hydrated lather, much more water content than with my usual DE shaves, and I applied a thin layer. I approached relatively flat at the beginning of the stroke and then immediately went steeper, almost to the point of scraping. I tried short strokes, and I tried longer strokes and of course I stretched my skin as well as I could. The darn thing DID NOT CUT. I didn't have a single whisker in the lather on the blade.

Now, even though that was my third try with the Feather Kamisori, only the first was somehow successful, I'll be making a break with it until the last week of the month when I have a bit time off and more time in the morning to figure this thing out. It takes me a whole 15 minutes more to shave with this kind of setup and the Kamisori passes are basically a waste of time at the moment. I hope that I can figure out then where I'm going wrong.

The only thing I can think of is to check and make sure the blade is loaded properly in the razor, beyond that I'm stumped. Maybe someone else can think of something. Sorry your having a bad time with your razor.

I have the same suspicion. I don't have a photo of mine loaded with blade at hand, but I try to illustrate with two images (blade and kamisori) how I load the blade. I do that by hand using tweezers to get the blade in; I have three single blades at the moment and haven't yet ordered a full pack, so I can't use the injector mechanism. I basically place the blade with the non-rectangular hole towards the handle. I tried it the other way, but the blade has overhang in the front if I do. Once the blade is loaded it looks like the first picture, with the grind of the blade slightly sticking out. Am I doing it wrong?
