What are you if you dress them up in little doll clothing and set a place for them at the dinner table?

Just to be clear, I only do it sometimes 🙄

O excellent - so I have nothing to worry about yet! Thanks Boris! 😅
Sure.

Absolutely nothing wrong with grown men either spending thousands of dollars on multiple sets of tools that all do the same thing as a single set of tools that can be had for under $100, or, choose to join self-help groups to manage a psychological disorder related to spending thousands of dollars on such tools.

Nope, nothing at all to worry about.

Nothing at all.

My first shave with a new (to me) Yates 921-M which I picked up on the BST. This is a really easy razor to use and very comfortable. I really like the length of the 4” handle although it’s a bit skinny. It’s not the most efficient shave on the M plate but very satisfying. I look forward to trying out the H plate. BBS-

The latest (very good) ad from ATT in my in-box talked about bit about blade rigidity and the different ways to achieve that.

Our friend @Teutonblade has done a lot of thinking about bending vs clamping (and especially clamp width). I guess we can add torque (eg, a slant) and shallow angle to the list.

The Pils (and my guess the Tradere) use a shallow angle. The blade is held completely flat in a heavy, broad head. There’s no chatter at all, and since you have to hold it virtually perpendicular to your face the broad head seems to stretch the skin ahead of the blade. The weight of the head helps it stay stable; it just ploughs through even my toughest spots. I’ve found it smoother and more efficient than my Overlander. It’s surprising, I normally prefer short light razors and the Pils is the exact opposite. It’s very well balanced though, and quickly becoming one of my favorite razors.

Big fan of the Pils, I’ll do a full review soon. Still gotta get that ATT S1, too 😊

You can't shave steep with the Pils, as the blade won't catch... I'd say "shallow side of neutral" is my sweetspot shaving angle with this razor.

The Tradere allows a steep to neutral shaving angle (at least my Blackland OC copy does) - perhaps the SB version is different.

Me too.

Thor's 🔨 is a winner in my books, too. 😎👍

Wow. This is a huge endorsement @Benwustl , particularly that you find it smoother and more efficient than the Overlander. The blade clamping must be exceptional.

It's interesting what you said about the weight and how you enjoy it. I'm finding that with the Athena, I may actually prefer the Bronzena to the Tithena, which has got me thinking about metals and razor weight in general. My thought is that certain razors do better with certain weights, and the theory which is percolating in my mind is that specifically Edge Clampers might benefit from more weight, while for Blade Benders its the opposite.

My contention is that the exposure/reveal of Edge Clampers (a la the Blutt, Athena/Ares, Overlander) tends to be low and therefore the added weight helps the blade to press into the skin and cut the hairs. Conversely, Blade Benders tend to have more exposure (or effective exposure when considering Guard to Shave Plane) and reveal and therefore don't need as much weight, and benefit from the added agility which the lighter weight gives them in terms of manuvering around the face. I think this is best exemplified by the TiBird vs the SS Blackbird. Your preference for the heavier weight of the Pils is possibly another supporting example.

Anyway, this thought is still a work in progress. For now, when I think of the paragon Edge Clampers like the Blutt/Athena/Overlander I'm not sure that lighter is better.
