Remove the "Red" Tip

I have no intention of selling it.

It is one of the best razors that I own.

Just think it would look great without that tacky (Krylon International Harvester Red) tip on it.

Well then, you're good to go!

This stuff works great, and it's FAST.
Available at Lowes, Home Depot etc.

Thank you.

i just bought a red tip with about 50% of the paint remaining.. i can trade it for yours if yours has more of the paint remaining that you have less to take off. :tongue_sm

I too have removed the red paint from the knob of one of my Red Tips, I think it looks great. And I used furniture varnish/paint stripper gel. I just painted it on and let it sit for 10 minutes, then whipped it off with a cloth, then a bit of touch up with fine steel wool, 0000 grade.

Do you have the name of the gel?

Also do you have pics?

As stated earlier, it is your razor so you are free to do with it as you wish. It occurs to me that you have this red tip razor that is at least fifty years old because it was easily identified because of its red tip. We enjoy many fine vintage razors today for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that someone cared for them. I enjoy all of my super speeds and look forward to reaching for the red tip from time to time.

Regards,

Doug

It isn't as if these are exactly rare items. David, strip the red off. Add steampunk gears. Put little angel wings on it if you want. Just post pics afterward. And keep using it.

It is a great razor which I'm not going to sell.

Just think it will look even better without the red.

Once it is done I'll post a picture.

Off topic, but I just bought a red tip that is perfect except for the red paint, and want to know how to paint the tip back myself.

Can I just buy a spray can of the Krylon International Harvester Red color and tape the rest of the razor up and spray it, or do I need to use a brush or special spray tool?

I sprayed some IH red into a paper cup and used a small brush to redo mine. I used masking tape on the handle, and the paint matched well enough I only hit the spots where the paint was missing.
