Recommendations for a high-end DE?

For example, I’m sure the overpriced Blacklan blackbird shaves great, but one can find many affordable options that shave just as well, if not better, such as the goodfellas bayonetta or the muhle rocca.
I respectfully and strongly disagree. I have used many razors over the years and no other razor gives me a better overall shave. When I refer to overall I mean my trouble spots. Almost every razor will shave the flats of my cheeks very well.

I also respect the intellectual property of manufacturers and will not purchase a razor cloned or imitated (often poorly). (Tech and other older Gillette and vintage models no longer produced are fair to copy in my opinion.)

Thanks so much, all! I'm currently looking at all of your recommendations. While I'm still leaning toward the SS Blackbird (the Ti version would be great, but a tad out of my price range), I'm open to other options. I'll keep researching everyone's recommendations. Greatly appreciate it.

If one is in the market for high-end razor, they have to ask themselves what they are trying to satisfy. If they want to gain the respect of a particular group, they should simply buy the razor that the group favors.
This presumes the reason one is looking for a high-end razor is because they're trying to satisfy some group. Perhaps one is just looking for the best performing razor for them and they feel a higher end tool is more likely to meet that requirement.

If blackland dropped all their prices by at least 50% then they could start being a competitive player. The osprey may be a great razor, at $350, it’s just a ripoff.
Personally, I would not presume to make such a pronouncement without full knowledge about all of the costs involved in bringing a product to market: development, material, manufacturing, marketing, support, inventory, etc. On top of that, the seller needs to make some profit from the item, or there's no point in producing the item to begin with.

But you are okay with a cloned or imitated brush handle?
