I'll use this thread to post some thoughts about vintage things (probably related to watches, cameras and well ... maybe razors). Feel free to comment.

So, these last vacation days I was looking at tons of various vintage Gillette fatboys. Lots of good ones around 100-200e but I'm not convinced I would like it enough to pay that much and forget the price. One flew under my nose today for 40e while I was not looking: a friend came over bringing me speakers for my Akai AM2850 and we were busy this afternoon. No fatboy but good sound.

Then I got sidetracked and grabbed this old thing out of curiosity, it looked interesting. I think this it's called a Single Ring? I'll report back when I have it...

It is. Depending on the serial number you can date it tone wise, but judging from the case my bet would be a Single Ring Standard Set - 1920s.

I also like vintage stuff, but with my razors I am a bigger fan of modern razors. Tried some vintage ones, but just like the newer ones better. But yes, I write with a fountain pen and prefer the look and feel of a book versus an e-reader. So I do like some vintage stuff ;-)

Very nice. I would like to acquire a single ring at some point. But I will wait until 2026!

Today is the last vacation day, tomorrow => work. Why not brushing on my straight razor skills? I like to shave at the end of the day but if I want to sip a shot of whisky tonight after eating, might be a good idea to begin early. So I begin at around 7pm and I think something is working a little better now, I seem to have a better angle. Bad lather today though, I must be doing else wrong, have to correct that next time. Still happy because I broke my mental block of shaving under my shin with a bright silent death machine... and a phone call. For work. Something unexpected, must be somewhere at 0900 sharp with some bright ideas tomorrow morning.

Meh

I try to reconnect but now my face feel like a raw steak, I somehow lost it. I carefully finish with a 58 Gillette that does not look like much but is comfy, and some cream.

Still have my nose and ears attached, and no bleeding. My cheeks feel a bit hot but very smooth, and I still can have my whisky. Straight razor skills have barely advanced, but its progress.
