What's new

Quorum edt

I'm sorry! You should not trust my judgment! Happy to send you a sample of Quorum right away to save you the same result on Quorom.

To me both are late 70s earlier 80s power scents. Both should be polarizing. It should be their nature.

I have a good bit of Grey Flannel.

Best!

Thanks for the kind offer. I dropped by TJ Maxx on the way home and got a bottle for myself. At that price, there is not much to lose. I always know at least one person who likes it. :thumbup1:

So far, it has been on my left forearm for about two hours. I was not too surprised at the opening blast of florist shop synthetic. It was way less offensive than Grey Flannel. I like what is left. I do not have the nose or the experience that some of you have, so will have to report back after using this one a few days.

Ah, my reputation is semi-preserved.

If anyone else wants a taste, happy to send the first five PMs or so to me a free one. The only cost is that you post your impressions!

Don't be shy about asking or negative posts! Remember my call is that this should be polarizing! Is it is not, my nose is off and my reputation, such as it is, such to further question!

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I'm glad to know this, as this has been a "new to me" fragrance, as I didn't try it, in fact I don't remember even hearing of it when it first came out. I've seen others positive comments about it here, and I have enjoyed it for the first time recently after picking it up the same way, in TJ Maxx for $14.99 for a 3.4 oz bottle. Getting a 3.4 oz bottle to try for about the price of a decant is a great way to try a fragrance!

By the way, other older colognes with a similar feel that have been recent "discoveries" for me have been Red by Giorgio Beverly Hills, Azzaro pour Homme, and one I haven't even heard of around here, Jaguar. I saw it for $19.99 last Tuesday, and did a quick check of reviews on Basenotes and was surprised by the positive comments. I agree with these positive reviews, it has a similar feel as Polo Green, and although it's very strong in sillage and longevity, it still feels slightly "lighter" than Polo Green. It's fun "discovering" these classics. :thumbup1:

Can't compare to this. "They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works every time"

I remember about ten years ago, or so when Dior Eau Sauvage could be found on the discount shelves. I think it was there because they were changing the packaging from the burled wood to plain white. Quorum is there because it is currently out of favor with the market. I still like it. Maybe I'll put some on today.

I do not really remember it from the past, at least very much. But I have a sense that it was there all along.

A lesser known 1980s power scent, that is/was right in there style and quality-wise with the other, better known, big scents of the time. Oddly, a bit of an outlier. Ironically, being lesser known is a good thing at this point. If one wears this scent, one can pretty much do so without fear that lots of folks will recognize it and think "wow, that is an oldie!"

The other interesting thing going for it, to me, is it is leather and tobacco (and some green). Leather and tobacco are classics. Timeless. Not likely to seem dated!

Reading all about this, I dug out a small bottle that was in goodie bag I got at a golf tournament some 20 years ago. Don't know why I kept it, but it was with a whole collection of samples and smaller bottles. Put it on this morning, and now three hours later, it is the best leather scent I have ever smelled. Hope the new stuff is the same, so I am getting myself a bottle.

"They've got cars big as bars, They've got rivers of gold, But the wind goes right through you. It's no place for the old"

love the Pogues Tag.

Thanks to "The Knize", I found mine today also at TJ Maxx. I like it pretty good, but one spray is all you need. Take my word for it. Any more, and it will give you a headache!

Wow, thank you! Someone actually notices the quotes I put in my sig!

I love the Pogues, too, and "Fairy Tale of New York is absolutely my favorite Christmas song!

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can´t make it out alone
I´ve built my dreams around you

And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells are ringing out
For christmas day.

Every now and then, I check out the Quorum at JR Cigar, but I haven't bought it. Maybe I'll toddle over to my neighborhood TJ Maxx and grab one.

As the year comes to an end, I think of another Pogues' song:

Sometimes I wake up in the morning
The ginger lady by my bed
Covered in a cloak of silence
I hear you talking in my head
I'm not singing for the future
I'm not dreaming of the past
I'm not talking of the fist time
I never think about the last

Now the song is nearly over
We may never find out what it means
Still there's a light I hold before me
You're the measure of my dreams
The measure of my dreams

Yes indeed. Tear one's heart right out of your chest:

We watched our friends grow up together
And we saw them as they fell
Some of them fell into Heaven
Some of them fell into Hell

* * *

I sang you all my sorrows
You told me all your joys
Whatever happened to that old song
To all those little girls and boys

The Anchorman allusions are pretty funny. Mrs. Nid Hog and I were doing some antique shopping in Selma, NC this afternoon and we checked out the local JR on the way home. By the door, there was a Quorum display, with the regular EdT on sale for $10. How could I pass that up?

I was kind of hazy on what exactly it smelled like, and Mrs. NH had never smelled it at all. I sprayed a little from the tester and we both checked it out. My wife laughed and said, "Aha! Sex Panther! I know you've been looking for this."

I was a little taken aback--I didn't even know my wife had seen Anchorman. Even so, it was nice to be encouraged to buy something for the den.

That sounds like a very positive reaction from Mrs. NH! I hope you stocked up! :thumbup1:

Ha! I knew I had overpaid at $14.99 for a bottle! I'm still liking Quorom. It is strong and unabashed! Not sure it is illegal in 9 countries or made with ground up bit of panther though. Maybe ground up cigar butts or something similar to that is in the mix though!
