Question about "Parker" razor

How do you know the razor is Swedish steel? You made it, did you? Here is a picture of some scrap gold I have been collecting.

If you will look at the OP's original pictures, you'll see that one razor is stamped "Swdeish Steel" on the tail. I absolutely do NOT know whether it's Swedish, "Swedish-ish" or "Swdeish," whatever that is. In order to make things simple I'll just say that my little snark was intended to point out that if an item seems to have a badly mis-spelled origin like that it's probably not really what it says it is.

O.H.

I looked over current Ebay listings and find several Parkers. One seller that I've purchased more than one razor from has one without the mis-spelled Swdeish steel (no stamp on tail) and another one with the mis-spelling. I know this seller is legit.

I now see the listing on eBay. I have bought multiple razors from this seller and, based on my experience and correspondence with the seller, he knows a lot about razors and I consider him to be reputable. I would simply ask the seller about this particular Parker model.

My guess is that this is a later model after the manufacturer switched from stamping the tang to etching. The Japanese seem to no longer manufacture lots of western style straight razors and what happened between the golden age of Japanese western style razors and now does not seem to be well documented in English. My guess is that there is a story here and that this Parker model may be part of the story.

Much like the later Filarmonica razors from Barcelona. In the case of Filarmonica, JMP died in 1971 and then the Spanish government banned the sale of traditional straight razors in 1985 as a result of the spread of Hepatitis and HIV.
