Question about drying soap

After loading your brush from a can of soap do you leave the lid off so the soap will dry out any or do you just drain the water and put the lid back on?
I've been leaving the lid off for a while until I see the soap surface dry off but I'm wondering if this is necessary. I guess I feel like it might mold or something since I may not use that particular soap for maybe another week or so as I rotate through different brands.
Anyway, leave it off or cap it back up? That is the question.

If your soap container has an air tight lid, and you will not reuse the soap for some time, then I would drain off any water and allow the soap to dry before replacing the lid. Many soap containers such as Old Spice, Tabac, and some Yardley, have loose fitting lids to allow water to evaporate between uses. That said, I still allow those to dry before replacing the lids.

I leave the cap cracked open so residual moisture evaporates off until I pass by the bathroom and remember to fully close the cap, usually at bedtime. My Proraso tub is going on 2 years old and probably has another year of shaves to go.

I have some shelves outside the bathroom where I store my shaving soaps, brushes, etc. I put the soap container in the shelf with the lid off. The lid sets beside the soap. Being stored in the shelves air can circulate, but the soap is still protected from dust, etc. A few hours later, or next day, the lid goes back on.

I mostly use hard milled soap and this system has been working well with them. I don't want my soaps going mushy. That's why I let them air dry.
