Proraso Pre-Post Shave Cream

According to the manufacturer (Ludovico Martelli company) the new Proraso cream without parabens has been formulated to be a pre-shave treatment only, while the older was a pre-post. I've heard some friends saying it's still good to be used as a post shave, but I've never personally used it for that purpose.

Even the old formula jars only mentioned pre and not post for the last 3 or 4 years. It has been a really long time since I saw a jar or box mentioning 'pre e dopo' on them.

I use it daily as a pre, not sure if there is a huge benefit but I like the feeling and smell in the morning, I also use nivea balm and have been known to add a dab of prorasso in my post balm for an extra kick.

Good, suggestion. Thanks. Purchased some Proraso Pre Shave Cream - it smells sensational. I'll try mixing it with some Nivea After Shave balm

Hi,

I went along to Turkish Barbers and they used this stuff pre-and post shave with Hot Towels.

I'm tempted to purchase some since I love the smell, but:

I don't need anything for pre-shave at home since I enjoy a long hot shower beforehand so my beard is always nicely prepared.
But, as I love the smell, is it good as an post shave balm? Will it noirish and protect my skin afterwards?

Thanks for comments

I have been using this stuff a little also. I just bought the green Proraso shaving cream and the pre-shave cream. I have not tried the cream as a post shave cream but think I will out of curiosity, especially now that I have new shave towels. I also take long hot showers and end up filling the bathroom with steam. What I do though is I get my face wet before jumping in the shower, apply the pre-shave cream and leave it on until Im ready to get out, then I rinse it off. The steam is in a higher concentration when your in the shower and with the pre-shave cream on, just seems to be an awesome combination.

Matter a fact I did this very same thing last night using those products and got a very nice BBS. I would recommend trying it at least, and if its not making any difference, then don't do it. But at least you tried. :) Thats what so great about this hobby, is finding out what works and what doesn't.

Good tip, I'll try that in due course.
I'll start off with using it as I get out of the shower, while I make the lather.
In due course, I'll try your suggestion.

I did exactly that this morning.
As soon as I was out of my shower, I added some pre to my wet face - wow, nice tingly sensation. A few deep breathes through my nose and I was wide awake for sure.
Made my lather. Typical 3 pass shave, with re-lathering in between. When done, I rinsed my face with water - it felt tingly as I washed away the pre-cream and shaving cream.

When my face was dry, I added a small dab of Proraso Pre-cream to some Nivea ASB - mainly for the smell and that added 'kick'.

Overall,

I can't say that Proraso Pre Shave added to my shave. Perhaps because a long soak in the shower is fantastic prep IMO.

But, the tingle you feel when applying to the skin: refreshing, invigorating, soothing, cooling - not to mention the smell which adds that extra kick start to your day, the way my skin feels after both the shave, and after adding a dab tomy post shave balm - means I'm glad I made the purchase. I'm pretty sure Proraso Pre Shave cream will become a permanent fixture in my bathroom cabinet.
