What's new

Please talk me out of it!

I think the main problems are [1] too many balms and aftershaves and [2] the Merkur Futur. My recommendation is to ditch the Futur and get a long-handled Progress.
Also, get a TGN 22 or 24 mm FINEST XH 2-band brush (~$60) and you'll be set until your next relapse.

I'll step up to the plate.

You can live without the Trumpers skinfood. It's nice, but it's a glorified Cornhusker's lotion. The GFT cream is very nice, particularly the coconut oil, but there are many equally fine creams to try, many of them costing far less. The same can be said for T&H, but it's hard to talk anyone out of trying their West Indian Limes.

But not buying the Musgo Real splash? You must be mad! :biggrin1:

+ 1. Musgo Real rocks. The other 2 are...meh...

You haven't got a problem until you get into straights. Then you will need help!

...Is this normal behavior and how can I make it go away???

No, this is absolutely not normal behaviour of yours. You haven't collected enough hardware and software after 3 months on B&B. 4 months after I joined the forum, I had over 50 razors, 500 blades total of 25 different models. It'll go away when you buy everything you want to try, and make up your mind what you like and what you don't.

@edgerunner So what you're saying is that I still have one month to go to collect 47 razors.

@zethreal There is enough in the order for free shipping already.

@teddyboy really like the futur. Will have a look at the brushes you suggested.

Everybody seems to love the musgo real after shave but not many thumbs up for the GFT stuff and T&H. Just to give an idea, I think I like TOBS cream the best. Very slick and lathers like a (beep)

@wrinkles2 haha. no.

As everybody is so positive about the musgo real stuff and not so much on the gft and t&h I might have to change my strategy and also go for the musgo real soaps/creams also... Advice needed (again) :)

Naaah, Chuck shaves with a sledgehammer, i.e. pounds his face so that the whiskers end up on the inside, then bites them off.

If you are asking this question, then you must feel that you are spending too much on the hobby. Try delaying the order for a few days. If you still want the items, and have valid reasons for needing them, then place the order. Objectively, you have more than enough things for excellent shaves. Your technique is what will improve your results the most, and you can't buy that. Work with what you have, and concentrate on improvement.

I guess I don't understand why you're hesitating. Those are great products that should be in every gentleman's shave den. You really don't have too many products so that shouldn't hold you back. In fact, I'd say you're a little light on number of soaps and creams, as well as vintage razors.

With hard work and determination, you'll soon get your den to where it should be. Good luck!

I bought the T&H sampler set and of all the creams, the Ultimate Comfort was my favorite. Excellent performance, excellent scent. Some of the other scents were just too strong for my taste but UC was spot on.

Make it go away is easy.
Bring the whole lot to Amsterdam.

I'll take it off of your hands and dispose of it respectfully.
:001_cool:

Then, start all over again.
We are near Germany, so get some Muhle razors!
You need QCS bespoke soaps!
(and so on)

@go forth Thanks for the advice. The question is do I have too much stuff for just 3 months of de shaving? Probably yes, but I just like trying different things.

@5savages Thanks for the tip on the T&H.

@wimbouman haha. I believe you. Where do you buy your shaving supplies? Btw, I have a bluebeards revenge pre shave oil I have used twice so as good as new. Interested in trading with something you don't like/need/use ?
