Perma-5 O'clock shadow check-in

Yep, same issue here - I don't dare shave ATG because, even after a WTG and an XTG (sometimes two WTGs and an XTG, especially if I'm using a straight), my stubble hooks onto the blade like a bunch of steel barbs. My face feels like 1800 grit immediately after I shave, but looks & feels like 600 grit an hour or two later. It's been 20ish hours since my last shave, and I feel like I could de-burr copper pipe with my chin.

Plus my beard is jet-black (with the exception of a growing contingent of pure white whiskers), so I'm always sporting a shadow. It's funny you mentioned Jon Hamm, because after I first started DE shaving, I once thought to myself, "well, since I'm stuck with a 5'oclock shadow like Don Draper, it's probably fitting that I'm shaving like Don Draper too". All I need now is Don Draper's looks, charm, and wardrobe, and I'm all set :wink2:

I always thought Don Draper's permanent shadow was because he couldn't handle a DE properly... and he makes terrible lather! :whistling:

I fit the description, but I don't think it's due to any particular ruggedness. I just have dark, coarse hair and light skin. I blame being half-Italian and half-Irish.

Even with a BBS in the morning by 5:00 I have stubble and it is feeling like sandpaper. If I'm going out with my woman I shave again.

I used to hate it but now it just gives me more opportunity to try new shaving gear.

Hairy Greek man checking in!

Thick, coarse, dark (for the most part, touch of "salt" mixing in with the "pepper" lately) beards...I say "beards" because I'm pretty sure I've got two beards growing out of my one face.

I always thought there was something wrong with me. Now I know it's the other guys problem that they have wimpy little girl hairs on their face.

Yep, this is me alright. Personally I like the don draper sandpaper look, so I'm totally fine with it, but it has been a problem when people at work are questioning whether I have shaved (it's part of the dress code to be clean shaven).

My Dad had fair skin and a dark beard. If we were going out in the evenings he would have to shave again. Even an hour after shaving his cheeks looked blue. Sorta like Richard Nixon but moreso.

I have a tough beard, but it's brown and gray, and I'm olive complected. 'Twas never as heavy as Dad's, though.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Face feels smooth, but looks dark. Before ATG, I have to do XTG, XTG, XTG, XTG, XTG, etc. I'm a master of the new and improved 14-pass shave.
