Over the Counter/ Drug Store Cigars?

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
Found em at Walgreens. 5pk for $5.99

Now I know why they are called "backwoods". I promise not to pass further judgment until I have smoked one

These are pretty good, I enjoyed them much more than Backwoods.

So they are sold in a box like that? and packed individually like that as well? what is that 2-3 cigars per pack?

that would be convenient as a travel cigar. when you need a fix.

I completely forgot about the dried stogies when I only mentioned Backwoods. Yes, I can enjoy a De Nobili/Parodi and the like. Good call! Harder to find these days, it seems.
JR Cigars has them, along with almost every other OTC you can imagine.

Well, you were advised they are "rustic", and not "premium".

true! for sure rustic!

I can see the appeal they have as the campfire cigar. After smoking one, taking them on camping trips is the only reason i'd purchase them. The taste wasn't appalling though. It was exactly what I would expect from the type of cigars they are.

give me a premium now!

Admit it, you sort of felt like Clint in A Fistful of Dollars while smoking it...

when i took the pic of just the cigar on my desk I thought "it's got a western look to it". I couldn't nail down the look until now

That one also looks a bit dried out compared to the ones I usually get. I also get the originals, which are a much darker wrapper leaf.

I meant they were harder to find in a drugstore and small shops. They used to be easy to find. That might be because I grew up in Niagara Falls, which was VERY Italian at the time. We dagos like our dried cigars.

What does a "wine" black n mild actually taste like? Does it resemble a red wine?

I don't think it tastes like wine, nor does it taste like anything pleasant.

In my experience most of the flavored over the counter/ machine made cigars taste utterly disgusting. They certainly don't taste like they should!!

Once you get accustomed to the taste of a real cigar, you will never want to smoke a Black and Mild again!!

I started this thread, and have since experienced quite a few cigars. There are way better choices available than Black and Milds and not for a whole lot more coin.

I have a local shop that hand rolls their own cigars. I can pick those up for $3 each. I would much rather smoke fewer cigars and really enjoy them, than suffer through very poor quality cigars. This is supposed to be about enjoyment, not about satisfying a nicotine craving.

+1, John. I'm trying to remember my college days where I didn't know any better. A Black N' Mild Wine tastes like a Black N Mild with some sickly sweet addition that could only be called "wine" if said wine had been left open behind a radiator for 3 weeks and then boiled down into syrup and then the cigar was dipped into it.

In college I used to get the Black and Mild 25 packs and keep them on my desk. Friends would stop in, 50 cents each (I think a 25 pack was $12 back then). I've always liked black and milds, and I will say the wood tip are a bit nicer!

Backwoods were not too bad. I enjoyed them.

My favorite, though, was the H. Uppman I had a few years back with a glass of scotch. That was a relaxing hour...Oh, wait, that doesnt count, that was from a convenience store that has a humidor. haha

So....Black N' Mild Mad Dog 20/20 would be a better name? I can't say I ever enjoyed OTC cigars either. I smoked my fair share of Blacks in HS, and a few Swishers, but can't say I enjoy them now. Back then, when an OTC cigar other than a Black came out, it wasn't for its intended use. That was usually my cue to remove myself for a bit, or request their removal depending on who owned the house.
