OliWorks M3teorite-Aluminum

I am a Henson fan, and this Meteorite razor has me very curious. Many Henson users really like this razor.
Questions for those of you who have shaved with both the Henson and the Meteorite:
1) Is the blade clamping is as tight as the Henson?
2) Is there more blade feel than the Henson when you shave?
3) The Henson has zero "blade chatter". Is there any chatter with the Meteorite? More audio feedback?
4) Is the #3 aggressive Meteorite plate more or less aggressive than the Henson AL13+++ aggressive?
5) How would you rate the manufacture quality of the Meteorite versus the Henson?
Thanks for your feedback.

Found some stats on the Oliworks web page for the Aluminium Meteorite razor:

Blade Gap and Exposure (in millimeters):
Mild:
Gap: 0.508, Exp: 0.0686
Medium: Gap: 0.762, Exp: 0.1372
Aggressive: Gap: 1.016, Exp: 0.20574

Not tried either Henson nor the Meteorite, but from pictures the latter has significantly more blade reveal compared to the Henson.

I think I can answer some of these.

1. Not really sure to be honest. I think the Henson might have better blade clamping. Honestly, the Henson has incredible craftsmanship.

2. I’ve only tried the Mild and Medium plate. For me, I have no need for the Aggressive plate. I’ve also only had the Mild Henson and the medium Oliworks has more blade feel. The mild Oliworks plate has next to none. With the Proraso green splash, there was mild tingly with the Henson and medium Oliworks plate. The mild plate, there absolutely none. It’s sublime. The medium plate has more efficiency obviously though.

3. Can’t answer this.

4. I think Henson is better. The Henson I received was perfect. There was residual metal from the machining on the Oliworks. But everything worked as should and looks good. I believe the anodizing on the Henson is slightly better as well. I’ve noticed the mild plate on the Oliworks on mine might have a slight difference in blade gap between the sides. I don’t feel a difference in shaving though. My eyes could just be messing with me. I’m not that old though so I’m pretty sure there is a difference lol. Since I don’t really feel a difference while shaving and no tingly feeling from splash on both sides, I haven’t really cared to look into it further or email them about it. Exposure is spot on also. Maybe I’ll email them to see what they say though.

All in all, I love the Oliworks aluminum. Unfortunately the stainless version was a little too hefty for me personally. The aluminum is perfect. The mild plate works so well for me. I loved my Henson mild but prefer the Oliworks. In part because of the suction feeling of the Henson. I highly recommend it!

I have a Hanson mild and an Oliworks M3teorite aluminum. Both razors have excellent workmanship and are high quality. The M3teorite is my favorite. Even with the mild plate, I get more blade "feel" than the Henson and I'm not locked into one angle.

Interesting that some of you prefer the Oliworks to the Henson. I just discovered this razor. I like that it is made in America by Americans.

How durable is the finish? I emailed Jorge twice and have yet to hear from him.

Still too early to see the durability of the finish. I did clean it with a not so soft brush and it was fine. Seems pretty durable to me.

Unfortunately, I think their email might be messed up. I had emailed them about returning the stainless version a couple months ago and no reply. I ended up writing them on Instagram and Jorge replied super fast on there and did mention my email might have slipped by. Great customer service though. Jorge was super friendly. Imo if their email is actually messed up, that’s a shame. They need to get that fixed for their sake.

Well, I went ahead and ordered a blue aluminum M3teorite. I hope I like it because shipping is very expensive from here. Two razors that I love to use the most are the Henson++ and the EJ DE89.

You’re in for a treat! I’ve only used the medium plate twice but it’s par if not better than my very best aluminums (CR7, Apex, Bison). The finish is just as good as the Henson; I went with the gray and also have the gray Henson aggressive and aside from the obvious design differences, they look like they could have come from the same factory.

I think you'll love it. My Henson hasn't left the cabinet since I started using the aluminum M3teorite.

I agree with JL and Koop. It’s great. Hell, I returned my Henson because of how impressed I was by it.

With that said, I do miss the Henson 😅 but not to replace the Oliworks

That picture makes me wonder if I should have gotten the gray. I already have a blue Henson, so I can compare apples to apples. Besides, I love the color.
If you love your Henson in blue, then you’ll love the OliWorks in blue; I think they used the same finishing color.

The biggest difference between the razors is going to be the Henson’s fixed angle with the flat top cap and base plate versus the more traditional head geometry of the OliWorks. The rounded top cap of the OliWorks is going to have less surface contact on your skin so the razor glides better than any other aluminum that I’ve used.
Plus you get all three aggression levels with the OliWorks, one of them is just about guaranteed to work for you.

I have the Game Changer with all three plates (.68, .76, .84 closed comb). It is a very easy and smooth shaver and due to the 3 plates is a similar set up as the Meteorite with 3 plates. I have a Titanium Tibam handle on the GC to save weight and drive the center of gravity toward the head. I typically use the GC .76 plate. My favorite razors are super light, and I plan to buy the aluminum meteorite for that reason. Question: Should I expect a "similar" easy and smooth shave from the Meteorite as I get from the GC? I realize all of this is subjective, but I am looking for a comparison from those of you who have both the aluminum Meteorite and the Razorock Game Changer. Thanks.

The Game Changer with a titanium handle is one of my all time favorites (specifically the .76 and .84 straight bars). I won’t say that the aluminum OliWorks delivers a better or smoother shave but it’s in the same class. I’d highly recommend especially considering it comes with its three base plates for the $69.

I hope it's not like the Game Changer. I love the razor itself, but it is one of the worst for me for shaving.
I have a Game Changer .68. It’s hard to decide which is better to me as I’m a huge fan of the GC. I go back and forth honestly. I hope the Oliworks works for you.
