Okay Im Ready, The Best Pen for Around 100 schmackers

i think my recent experiences with chinese pens makes me a bit hesitant at getting one at that price,... though that one does look nice

I am looking at purchasing my first pen too. I was really looking at the M 200 but now I am considering the FC. Too many choices.

If you want to try the ebay auction route, you can snag a full-size Sailor 1911 for about that price...

... ah, but you want an italic. I forgot that part.

If you can find a good deal on a Platinum music nib (not as crisp as italic, but more user-friendly and still with a good bit of line variation to purddy up your scribble) that`s a good one to get.

they usually run a little higher then 100 bucks though, no ?

If youse are buying from Franklin Christoph....tell 'em B&B sent youse !!!!

Do we have a relationship with the FC guys ?, or are we trying to build one with them, either way ill let them know

Poke around for reviews on FPN and youtube first, but it sounds to me like this could be one of the best deals going in an italic nib. It's called the Italix Parson's Essential. I don't own one yet, but I may get one soon. I think it's an Asian (Chinese?) pen, but it's finished in the UK. Sounds like the nibs are ground in the UK maybe. I am thinking about getting my first decent italic pen, and the 8 nib options for that one make it appealing. I'm not sure whether to go with 1.0mm or 1.3mm italic.

The Namiki Falcon (semi-flex) and Faber-Castell Ondoro also have my attention at the moment, but they're not available with an italic nib.

No, no relationship. I have met Scott Franklin at a couple of pen shows. Just want these penmakers to know we exist and have a lively writing forum. FPN is not the only Pen forum on the block.

FC also didn't charge me the $22 bucks more for the italic nib. I don't know if this was a mistake on their part or not but it might help in making your decision.

Lamy 2000, although they are more like 125 now

Edit"

Oops, missed the bit about the italic. I'd say Pelikan 200 with a custom binder Nib. Also around 120, but worth it.
