What's new

OK, another Toggle for $1,006 sold on the Bay.this was a regular Toggle though.

Based on how often they come on eBay I'm surprised they don't sell for closer to that price! 17 Toggles have already sold in March alone - thats 1 a day. It is assumed by many that these are rare, and they are not. But I am biased as I dislike Toggles and their prices.

Should be noted no 1-5 shot up in the wake of the $5000 sale. That should tell you something about surviving examples in the hands of people who would be willing to move one/actively trying to.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Toggle look? That end piece always reminds me of a tadpole or something. :tongue_sm

My Aristocrat, on the other hand, looks beautiful.

My 2 cents!

That is one gorgeous display I was watching that Toggle knowing it would climb high. The Toggle and the Darwin DE are two razors I dream of encountering at some garage sale for a cheap price. They say dreams do come true lol.

I have the darwin scored off, just need the toggle! One day! :D

thanks again all for even more info...

based on all this info (and video) it just looks to complicated to me....give me my gem 1912 any ole' day.

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
Umm yeah.....I saw one at a certain antique store somewhere in the USA not to long ago. Significantly less than $1,000. Significantly.

I'll help my fellow B&Bers: if anyone lives near me PM and I'll tell ya where it is.

While I can't say I love my toggle I do appreciate it's uniqueness and when dialed on one or two:eek: it gives me bbs shaves. A wee bit on the aggressive side.
It's a keeper!

Am I the only one to find suspicious that an ebay member with 0 reviews would bet 1775$ on a razor and backoff ? I'm sure the guy created an account for the sole purpose of trolling the auction.

Is this razor really worth that? Is it that much better that its worth $970 more than my Fatboy? Sure I get that its rare, and that its NOS, but even a NOS fatboy isn't worth that... guess I'll keep my good looking, good shaving fatboy that I paid $30 for, and maybe get it replated for the same cost, and still have a razor thats just as pretty and a hell of a lot cheaper

Maybe I'm nuts but theres no way that $1000 razor shaves better than my $30 razor to justify the price disparity, even rarity can't make that up, that's just crazy!

the import charges were over $120 to Canada as well, no way would I pay that... not even for bragging rights, kind of sickening that someone thought that was a fair price....

What would we say about a Picasso... I mean, it's just a painting. The value is in the eye of the beholder.

Complicated? I opened it, closed it and adjust it with one hand.
Thats great but the best thing with a Toggle is the way it shaves. Having said that I would not pay that sort of money for one (I have two and the one I use regularly cost me $96).
