Noxzema brushless is, well, meh for me.
OK, not the greatest.

All my dad ever used and my first cream. BTW how did that Italian Noxzema menthol foam work out?

Like many of you, my skin is sensitive. I have to take a break from shaving to let my skin calm down. Otherwise it gets angry, red, hurting, and shaving is not fun at all. This i am sure is true for many of us.
On another thread, where I was pondering try and get another new cream, to fix this issue that I've had for 20 years, I saw a recommendation that stood out to me. A gentleman was recommending strongly that I try using Noxeema cleanser, not the shave cream, in a thread about noxzema products.
Now I normally do not go and impulse buy a product based on the recommendation of one member. But I figured it's a small cost, I need a new facial cleanser for the shower anyway, and I have never tried any Noxeema products.
And I have gotta say, this is something special. It provides good-not-great lubrication, wonderful protection, and it does not cause the ouchy, hot feeling of the skin that I normally get. I have now shaved three days in a row with the uber-aggressive Razorock Super Slant L3++, and my skin feels fine.
Earlier I was doing the exact same shave with Speick, and getting the same angry red feeling.
This stuff is an absolute game-changer for me. A massive tub cost less than a sandwich. And it works great as a facial cleanser as well.
I did use my preshave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements The Cube - but I use that before every shave regardless so it's not making the difference.
I am so glad you had a great experience.I was recently in Italy with the Wifey on a vacation and while in the grocery store saw and bought this:

Which I’ve always been curious about… as far as I can tell it is exactly the same thing as Noxzema. Same scent/menthol and weird semi solid texture. Anyway, I had just read this post a couple weeks before I got it so decided to give it a try as a shave lubricant… works GREAT!
Honestly I really think I’m gonna tuck the shave brush and soap away for a while. It can be a little gunky on the razor, but after a few tries it really seems like it doesn’t take much at all. Like so thin it’s invisible. I pat really wet hands on my face after rubbing in so I have some drops of water on top of it and that seems to keep the razor “rinsable”.
And come on… is that a cool label or what?

Yes, Prep is a fantastic cream. There is also a tube version that I use often and I like both. They are ideal for sensitive skin.I was recently in Italy with the Wifey on a vacation and while in the grocery store saw and bought this:

I appreciate the fresh scent and the consistent lubrication on the face.
I don't use Noxzema so I do not know if it is the same.
I understood my mistake, it was meant and mentioned pre-shave soap.I'm sorry. I thought I was replying to the initial Noxzema post. Proraso Green has eucalyptus and menthol so I was wondering if Noxzema had a similar scent cause it also had eucalyptus. I was also interested if it really performed that well as a shave cream. I've heard of Prep but I've never used it and yes that was my understanding of it. That Prep is used as a Pre/Post. Sorry, now I'm confused too.![]()
No worries. It's all good brother.I understood my mistake, it was meant and mentioned pre-shave soap.
I must have mistakenly interpreted the word soap in one of the previous comments meaning shaving soap.
sorry, I had this misunderstanding and created confusion.
I will answer your question in the post #50 Prep Dermoprotective cream has a prevalent camphor scent. Some people might not like it.
Confused. I must have read and understood incorrectly, sometimes I have trouble understanding and translating.
Rereading the following posts #46, #47, #49, #50 I read them several times. Why did you also write to put aside your shaving creams and soaps and did you write about Proraso shaving creams and soaps??
Prep Cream is a pre or post shave cream, It's used only before or after shaving and it should not be used as a shaving cream.
No problem. I probably wasn’t very specific at first.Sorry if I have confused or misinterpreted your comments, pretend I have not written anything.
This was the Prep shaving soap, it is no longer in production. Still very difficult to find.
All is well sir!! my wish that you continue to enjoy and be satisfied with Prep's Dermoprotective Cream in your daily shaves.Well that’s the thing… the Original post is talking about using Noxzema as a shave cream. Because Prep (the pre/post shave) seems to be the exact same thing (I almost wonder if it’s made by Noxzema and sold under a different label the way C.O. Bigelow shaving cream is made by Proraso) I decided to give it a try as the shave cream.
Here’s the thing. You really don’t need much. Just a tiny dollop as small as a green pea, rubbed all over a wet face. Maybe even pat wet hands on your face after applying just so it doesn’t get too sticky in the razor. Then shave.
It’s like your razor becomes a squeegee and the hair just wipes off! Just used it again this morning.
No shave brush, no soap, no cream. Works great!
