Noob need help finding a good brush

i really dont see how one could think a tweeaerman is rough, i just got my son one, and it seemed very soft especially when all soaped up-either way i too have Semogues SOC, they are great the feel of the handle is perfect and the boar is right for any cream, face or soap---------the price is the best part BRUNO @ vintage scent is the man to see

I started with a tweezerman and it worked great. But..... its hard to down grade if you ask me. I like some scritch but not as much as the tweezerman. Everyone already posted a lot of good stuff.

I ended up ordering a Rooney 3/1 silvertip for my badger brush. I liked the handle and it was in my price range. Going to wait a month before I get a horse and synthetic.

Maybe I got a dud, I conditioned it but still is prickly and rough. It's ok, it worked as a starter and only cost 10$.

maybe a bit too late now but have you considered a frank shaving? I know its gotten a bit of a bad rap lately for the combination of increasing pricing and perhaps some QC issues. However there is a new ebay seller that I've worked with who is awesome and has much more reasonable prices for their silvertip

I wish I had your budget. I've been jealously reading about and looking at all of these lovely brushes for the last couple of months. I was able to justify a very modest upgrade from my Tweezerman to a $30 Omega, but if I tried to spend more than that, the SWMBO would have my head, and what good is a shaving brush if you no longer have a face that needs shaving?

If you're going cheap - spend $30...get a Franks Shaving Synthetic for $12 and spend another $14 for an Omega 49. That keeps you in budget and allows you to buy a couple of Arko sticks.

If you're going for the $100 - you are very hard pressed to get a better badger than the Semogue SOC 2 Band for under $100.

I got a nice silvertip from the Deutsche Optik catalog, very similar to the Art of Shaving high-end, for $85. However, looking at their site just now, they may have sold out of it: seems they only have the less expensive badger at $39. But that probably equates to a $60 or $70 brush elsewhere. But I am no expert - has anyone else tried a brush from them?

Correction - I viewed the Deutsche Optik catalog wrong somehow, they seem to still have the high-end one ($89 not $85).
