I find boar brush to be moist, but not dripping wet when swirling on the soap. I don't wet the soap either. I just add water to the brush as needed when I face lather.
By the way, was your boar broken in? It took mine few weeks of use before it could make good lather, on the other hand my badger didn't need to be broken in.
