New Tabac trouble lathering

I am finding the new formula Tabac hard to lather. When I use a soaked best badger brush it seems I get watery lather and if I use a dryer brush it's still difficult to get a good lather. Never had this problem with the old Tallow version. Maybe I need to use a synth brush. Anybody else have this problem?

Ask me about shaving naked!
I’ve only ised it a time or two, hut it worked fine. Maybe try a different brush or make a test lather with distilled water or rainwater?

Lather from new formulation of Tabac soap is somewhat lighter and it's not that thick like some other soaps.

And it could be tricky to lather sometimes, seems that soap is quite sensitive to lather and water ratio which is rather disappointing.
Especially, if you have brush from the natural hairs with huge knot which soaks lather much more than synthetic - like one of my boar brushes that I like to use.

Shake the brush really good, fully load the brush with lather and add water little by little and you should be able to make nice lather.

I use a synthetic brush. Start with the brush being not much more than damp. Load for 40 to 50 seconds then transfer to your bowl or face and start working it. Add water a few (very few) drops at a time. Try having the faucet running very low and just dip the tips of the brush in the water when you want to add water. You should have a great lather after a minute of lathering.

I actually find the new version every bit as good as the old.

Do you have a water softener?

I haven’t tried the new version of Tabac. I will one day and I will keep this in mind when I give it a go. I have read that most people find it totally acceptable as a soap.

very weird to say the least. the veggie tabac for me lathers quite easily. I have no idea what you are doing wrong because most people on here who have used the veggie tabac have zero issues getting it to lather.

I’m on my second puck of Veggie Tabac and for me I don’t notice any difference.
I load all my soaps heavy and add water as required. I use Badger, boar, and synthetic brushes and they all do the job and do it well.
There you go, load heavy, works every time.
"Use more product" B&Bers always say.
Any old brush works with mine (2021 reform.)

No problem at all, with either the old tallow, the veggie V1 or the veggie V2 versions.

It's not the hair of your brush. I've lathered Tabac with a silvertip and a boar brush for an eternity, now use a synthetic exclusively. Likely the problem is a) part moisture content in your brush (you want something in between soaking wet and squeeze-dry damp, about three quarters of the way to squeeze-dry damp) and b) part not loading long enough. I load for about 30 to 40 seconds, gently working the suds back onto the puck, gently scrubbing the hairs of the brush across the puck surface in a back-and-forth motion, occasionally rotating the puck so it gets worn down evenly.

I do not change a single thing in either moisture content or loading technique when lathering up whatever Tabac I'm using. It's not like I go 'Oh dear, it's veggie so now I must...'.

I'll try that. Thanks

New formula Tabac works really well for me with my 26mm synthetic brushes. I load directly from the puck with a damp (not dripping wet) brush and then face lather.

I use a synthetic. Wet the brush, give it one gentle squeeze (so that there is a little water left in the brush), and load on the puck for 20-30 seconds. Gives me enough lather for 3 passes.

I honestly find it better than the original, one of my best lathers and shaves have come from veggie Tabac. I grate a gram of it and put it in my bowl, let it bloom and begin working it with a damp brush. I add water little by little and get excellent results
