New razors for a new year: Two new Yaqis (likely 34C and 37C clones)

I had my first shave with the Slant 37... Now, I have to tell you... I installed one of the little knobs on the end of the handle... and immediately switched it out for a Timeless Ti Crown handle... The OEM handle and all the colored knobs are safely in the small box in which the Slant 37 arrived..

I'll say this... the Slant 37 is all I had hoped for.... It took me into the Zen Shaving Zone immediately.. no learning curve for me with this one... I don't know how long the shave will late, but based on how my face feels and the ALUM slight sting after I had finished shaving, it should be one of those great 12 hour shaves.

I did use a Wizamet with it... Wizamets used to be my Go-To blade. Somehow a few others have taken its place, but I wasn't sure how efficient the Slant 37 would be, hence the choice. The razor was so smooth and sure-footed, I'll try a Perma-Sharp in it next shave with zero trepidation...

For me, this is one fine razor. As some of you know, I prefer razors in the upper mild to lower medium efficiency zone... With a Wizamet, the Slant 37 seems to fit into that lower medium efficiency zone.... One shave, so I don't know for certain, but I will tell you.. It was a pleasure to use from the very first WTG stroke.

Can anyone share a comparison of the Yaqi Slant 37 to the Merkur 37c?
For me, though only one shave, the Slant 37 is at least half a step more efficient than the 37C and for me, more smooth and comfortable. It’s very intuitive for me, as I said, no learning curve. The SS polish is flawless. I’m sure the OEM handle will work for most. I admit, I’m partial to the Ti Crown. Since I use them with everything SS three piece razor I have, I only have to adapt to the razor head itself.

Dang, now this “new” production razor is on my radar. Like the Razorock 37c clone and its ability to be used with my favorite handle. Just being potmetal and the long term.

I bought mine before the excellent sales price, but I did just order the new Diagonal and the Ghost 0.90... I think the Diagonal might end up being a mistake as it's a two piece razor..... I read some reviews, but they didn't mention it..... I neglected to look at all the photos on the Yaqi site which clearly show it's a two piece razor... no handle substitutions.... That might be a deal breaker for me... It will show up in a week or so and I'll see how it shaves. I hope it changes my mind. <eg>

If not, someone will get a great deal on it. ;)

Finally received mine. It’s not an exact duplicate of my old Merkur 39c (pre change to milder) or Razorock 37c. The details in the top cap scallops/safety bar seem a little softer. It’s wider to cover the blade tabs, so it’s little head heavier but not so bad that I have to switch from my 12x80 handle to my 13x80 heavier handle to compensate. It works well though, just wish it was narrower. I’m curious about the manufacture since you can see the machine marks under the cap but not on top. That takes a lot of polishing or it was cast with the finer details machined.

I wanted a 37c style slant head that wouldn’t corrode with age to use with my spanish UFO handles and I got it.

Follow up.... I used the Yaqi Ghost 0.90 and the Yaqi Diagonal Slant this morning.... I switched them around during all 4 passes and I have to say.... I loved the Ghost but the Diagonal Slant has more blade feel than I enjoy... It didn't feel smooth for me.. It didn't feel dangerous.. just not enjoyable... I love the Slant 37 and now the Ghost 0.90... but I wish I would have passed on the Diagonal Slant.... That's what I get for not reading the description all the way through before ordering, including looking at the photos that clearly show, it's a 2 piece razor.... It sure looks nice... but looks a great shave don't make.

Is the Yaqi Diagonal a "slant" razor? The pictures on Aliexpress look like it isn't slanted.

I'd be tempted to try it if you need to move it on as well.
It is a slant... hence the diagonal moniker.... Someone said was based on a German Vintage no longer available...
