I have toyed with having it replated, but, I like that it shows some wear. It was definitely used, yet well maintained.
I agree totally. Wear adds to authenticity. On an Aristocrat Junior I have the plating is worn most precisely in the lower bottom handle and TT mechanism specifically. Well maintained but very well used. It will not be replated.

8/6 (Eight Shillings and sixpence) in 1939 would be about £37-£38 in purchasing power in 2024. A not inconsiderable sum at the time when the average wage was about 34 Shillings or £1/14/ (20 Shillings to the £ up to 1971)
