New Adventures of a Middle Aged Man

This will be a shave journal/musings/questions/discovery post for me, along with ramblings and an airing of grievances sprinkled in.

I’m VERY new and am just dipping my toes. The main razors I’ll be using as I start my journey will be a Viking Godfather that was gifted to me and a Maggard MR18 handle with a V3A head.

Don’t expect class and elegance here, but thrifty man trying to make the most of what he has.

There will be no shave this morning. I plan on hunting this evening and don’t want to spook the deer into thinking a barber shop is near by.

Also, shoutout to @Flanders for identifying the bristles as a boar on one of the two brushes I have and pointing me in the direction of how to break it in. It is currently in the refrigerator; maybe I can bring some life back to it.

No deer were seen this evening. It’s been a frustrating year.

Quick single pass shave this evening WTG post shower. I typically shave then shower; that works best for me in the mornings.

Shave was good this morning. WTG, XTG, and AGT. Not much to take off since I shaved last night. Weeper on upper lip and two on the neck.

Showered after which is the norm for me. 40 deg F outside. Cold showers are getting rough in this weather. Clubman Pinaud was the AS today.

Wife and I are going out for Pho. She is a pescatarian and has never had it. I’m sure she will find something she enjoys at the restaurant.

She is a full time vegetarian unless we go out to eat. Then she will have the occasional seafood.

Man, I have, too but I’m a meat eater through and through. SWMBO understands I can’t change from my evil ways so she buys meat and will cook it for me with no guilt trip involved. I think I found a good one.

The shave this morning was rushed. Handful of weepers on the neck. 4/10. Same get up as yesterday. Aftershave samples arriving today, new soaps on the way as well.

Wife and I are heading to Austin in April for a quick get away. First time for both of us. Looking forward to the LBJ library. I don't know much about him but the presidential libraries are always pretty neat. We saw the Jimmy Carter presidential library last year and it was amazing so we are going to try and see more of these throughout the country. Any recommendations for dining or activities in that city are appreciated.

We will probably hit the Tomato Art Festival in Nashville this year as well. We went in 2023 and had a great time despite the weather turning on us.

All that said, I reckon it's time to get a Dopp bag.

I used to work at a recording studio in East Nashville for several years. I guess I burned myself out on that side of town.

Shave today was mediocre. 5/10. Switched back to Viking Godfather for a milder experience. May have been the blade. AS samples came in. Trying to find the one that appeases SWMBO and myself.

I’m digging this one. She is not. I’ll try again tomorrow
