Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Bar?

Anyone still use this stuff? Found a sample in my hotel giveaway packages. Seems to clean, dry skin, but leave a sticky something behind

I use the Nutrogena for Men preshave skin scrubber and boy does it ever soften the beard and make my face happy.

L'Oreal also make a Power scrubber that works real well. However it has Aluminum Oxide crystals as its base so it is rough.

Sort of sand paper with out the paper.

I think you're referring to the original see through golden bars. They're alright... If they're on sale they'll be OK.

I can even get a decent quick shave with the lather from this stuff.

When I started back with the brush, I melted down a bar of Neutrogena's Facial Cleansing Bar (which is glycerine based) as the first of my two shave soaps (VDH Deluxe was the other). Works just fine, although it doesn't have as many of the additional ingredients as the glycerine shave soaps have.

I do believe the fact that the bars have Sodium Tallowate as well as Glycerine makes it a fairly adequate shaving soap.

This lather is from a Neutrogena bar.

It doesn't do much for the nose, but it'll do the job.

Wow..can't believe that actually worked
Anyone try lathering from, say, a Bath and Body Works bar?
Depends on the soap, really.
Most commercial bar/bath soaps don't work so well because they skim off a lot of the glycerin content for use in other products, or sell it to other parties for other applications (like stuff that goes BOOM), and they substitute detergents and other lathering agents. The reason the Neutrogena bar works fairly well is because it has a pretty high glycerin content--other soaps like it as well as homemade soaps should work well too.

I think we'll see a resurgence in glycerin either added to or remaining in the soaps. Producing biodiesel from used fats and oils is a process similar to saponification, and does produce glycerine. As such, as more biodiesel is produced, the market for glycerine will become a buyer's market.

Of course, given the US military's current obligations in Southwest Asia, maybe that glycerine will get bought up just as quickly as always... :001_smile

I know this is a dated thread, but I thought I'd add to it. Today, after reading the ingredients on a Nutrogena Face Bar and seeing that it was glycerine and tallow, I busted out the Omega Boar and did a quick face lather. I wouldn't use it daily, but I got a pretty nice lather from it. The only other soaps I've used are VDH, Surrey, and Williams, however. So compared to a 'nicer' glycerin soap it may not stand up.
