Need advices for feet and neck

Hey gents.

As the title says, I need advices for footwear and ties.

First the shoes:

I usually am more of a boot guy. Beside my workwear (steel toes), I own old running shoes for sports, and boots. My go to are a pair of Canadian Army combat boots I bought when I didn't had a lof of money, but these things just won't die. I have a nicer pair of Doc Martens, but I'm not sure they could be qualified as dress boots (Could they? seriously):

This is what I wear when I suit up, not bad, but the yellow stitches scream Doc Martens.

Now I'm starting to make a little more money. I'm still in college, but I get better coop works, and I graduate next year. I'd like to get myself a nice pair of shoes, but I hesitate: Dress shoes or everyday shoes I could just polish and would look good with a suit? I know Allen Edmonds are appreciated around here, but I don't know if I can find them locally, and after a bad experience ordering boots online, I'm never ordering footwear through the Internet again, at least not from the US (nothing against the US, more against UPS).

Next, ties. What I have is a black suit, a few shirts (white one, black one, another more burgundy, red one, shiny I could qualify of "fashion", but in general I'm more on the classic side, and I like it). But for ties, I just don't have a lot of imagination (black, 2 burgundy, blue striped one) and that's about it.

I'd like suggestions for affordable, more classic, no flashy colors ties what would go well with a black suit.

If you really want to stick with boots, go with Chelseas. They'll work with a suit if you need to be in a more conservative environment. Or you could get some oxfords, which are dress shoes and always look good.

Then, ties, you can check out thetiebar.com. All their ties are fifteen dollars, and they have anything you can imagine. Darker colors are more called for with a dark suit (generally), or you could make the tie pop. It's all your choice, although where you wear your suit factors into it.

When you can, I would try not to wear a black suit to work. Perhaps start with a navy blue one. As far as ties, perhaps an experienced sales person can help you pick out a tie. I don't know if there is such a thing as an experienced salesperson anymore. Tell them it's for business.

However, I must admit that I could be behind the times. The old saying when I came up was to save the black suit for funerals. If you are a bit short on money at present, I'm sure you could get by with it for work.

OH, and the Doc Martens. How can I forget them? I know they are good shoes, but they would slow an executive down too much. You can't be clunking around in something like that when you wear a suit. Well, I guess if you worked in some artistic type job you could.

Like Jett mentioned above, if you want to stay with a boot, go with a Chelsea. They are very versatile and can be worn with a suit or jeans. Please do not wear docs with a suit.

For Boots given your liking for DOC's try and get a pair of Oxford Wing boots a little more dressy and can stil be worn with jeans, Prada made a lovely pair but are expensive.

For Ties to wear with a Black suit and a white shirt, pink ties look great.

Sorry if my post wasn't clear. I don't wear suits at work. In fact I work in a REALLY dirty environment and usually wear cargo pants and old t-shirts.

Don't worry, the suit is overrated. Try to stay out of them as long as you can. It's been in the '90s for over a month down here, and I feel completely ridiculous in a suit, and very miserable too.
