Naniwa Super Stones or Chosera

I have a question and if the OP doesn't mind me posting in this thread (only because these are the exact same stones i recently purchased)
Is there a good finisher that someone could recommend I was looking at some pastes but aren't sure what would give me the sharpest edge possible. I have patently honed one of my razors and it does pluck hairs but am curious what I am missing. What I am looking for is something that TI or Dovo advertise as shave ready from factory.

For example Thiers Issard 7 / 8" Grelot Oak Wing Straight Razor, Limited Edition which came presharpened from TI. I am basically looking at sharpening my blades every 6 - 8 months with that type of quality.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You probably already worked your answer out but just in case... Once I established a good edge off the hones on my Oak Wing I have kept it up with a few, never more than five, passes on 1 micron then 0.25 micron diamond slurry on a two sided paddle strop. Generally go six or seven shaves between trips to that strop.

Be patient with the carbonsong steel. Any true finisher is a capable stone, just might take longer to get there due to their hardness. It took me a few tries; as did my hart. I finally sold my Hart to a member here after I got frustrated and stopped using it. I rehoned it from bevel set on and shaved with it prior to shipping.... surprisingly, it shaved incredibly, I didn't want to sell it anymore but I had already received payment. The person who bought it said this to me: "I demand a refund, You robbed me of my third pass! 2 passes to bbs, that's never happened to me before!".

Be patient with the hard steel razors as they might take a few attempts.

Back to the point. The difference between the 10k chosera and the 12k SS, in my opinion, is really just quality of hone and feel of honing. They both provide a very similar shave; I just prefer honing on the chosera stones. They feel more... natural?

The 10k C is harder, leaves a hazier finish. It's got a certain kind of density that provides a very active type of feedback. It hides nothing. If you missed something at the previous stages, it will let you know right away. It wears slow and it's a very accurate stone to work on; there's almost no 'give', even after its been wet for a while.

The SS is easier to work with IMO - it feels gummier to me, and it brings up a more mirrored type of polish. I believe it's faster than the 10k C but that's just a feeling - I never timed them. If you prefer mirrored bevels - the 12k SS is the one.

Apart from the visual aspects of the finish, They're both very capable of delivering the goods. IME - the 10k C reqires more effort/skill to get the max out of it.

I had both of them at the same time for a good while - I honed a good number of blades on them side by side. Eventually I sold the SS and kept the Chosera.

Gentlemen thank you for your very helpful responses. Just the sort if info I was looking for. Going to be opening the wallet wide for a good cause. Regards...
