I have yet to bleed profusely with a straight. The worst cuts have still been from a M3, and a DE, respectively.

Before your next shave, play with it some and see if the knob is easy to loosen. And don't hold it by the knob while you shave.

If it's loose, a drop of blue loctite on the threads might restore it.
Teflon tape can tighten them up a bit, too.
