MWF Closing?

I have not heard that and will be sad to see them go. I immensely enjoy their hand soaps.

I have 4 or 5 of their shave soaps squirreled away so I'm set if this is the case.

If anyone is concerned, Amazon US has the Kent SB2 shave soap refills for about $8. I'm pretty sure those are/were still manufactured for Kent by MWF.

Looked at their U.K. government filings and it looks like they recently went through some changes in control. It was run by the Robinson family (John, James, William & Marylin). Initially (per late 90's and early 2000's filings) John owned 80% of the company (4/5 shares) and Marylin 20% (1/5 shares). From other documents it looks like John Robinson ran MWF from 1991 to 2021 when James and William (his sons??) became Directors and then in 2023 assumed ownership.

Later significant if now all ownership went to James and William in 2023 right before May of 2023 when an Adam Mackenzie is listed as owning between 50% and 75% of the company. Then in June of this year he shows up as no longer having control.

Evidence of a small family business that may have been sold and then liquidated when the original owners decided to retire.

We will miss the brand here, as many of us, including myself, enjoy using the shaving soap. The bath soap is also great, slickest soap I ever used.

I feel like we might need to do a wellness check on some of the gents from this thread...

This thread may also become more active:

I'm not sure if they're the tallow pucks though. I remember looking at them a little while back, and it seemed like one of the stock photos listed tallow in the ingredients label, but the actual item description said somewhere it was tallow free.
I could be misremembering this though, will check.

Sad day indeed. Well, we won't have the Fat to kick around any more here in the forums.

It was somewhat a rite of passage when a user was finally able to lather up the old tallow MWF.

It will be missed by many ... I loved that clean freshly-washed linens in the breeze scent.
Yes, in addition to the great lather from my tallow pucks that unique scent is one of my favorite elements of a MWF shave.

Looks like the main soap left to pick on now is Arko. Everyone better get their licks in before it turns vegan like Derby Usta. 🙂

Ok I found the product listing on Amazon for the Kent pucks. In the images that are included it does list Sodium Tallowate at the top of the list:

But then there's a couple places in the actual item description where it says it is Tallowate Free:

So I'm not sure what to think, but if one wanted to try it out it does have free returns with Prime if you were to get one and see no tallow on the ingredients label.

The pictures usually don't get updated. What's important is the description, which they have updated. It's clearly the new, tallow-free formulation being sold.

Yeah that's been my experience as well, just realized that I had meant to say something in my post about the stock photos...
