Muhle R41: How many passes?

Perfect thread.

The last weeks I use my brand new r41 and is the perfect razor. I use DE from my 17 and I never had such a great razor in my life.

4 passes,always steep angle,never shallow because it bites then.

The most aggressive razor ever, almost like a DEvette but the result is excellent. No nicks and razor burns because it cuts the grain not pulling it. I have also a Fatip Grande but r41 is way better even for my sensitive skin. Good lord thanks for choosing this razor.

Now it is my good to go razor.

I always did 3 passes with my R41. I didnt find that I got any more irritation with the 41 as I did with the 89. ATG is where the R41 really shines, IMO.

With my 2013 R41 I do 2 passes, 1 WTG, another mixed one XTG & ATG and clean-up. This gives me BBS with a polsilver.

I do the normal 3 pass shave with touch ups. Steep angle helps and I put a heavy handle on as well.

How many points are there in a compass? I just did a W, X, A and points in between with the R41.

Same amount of passes as with other DEs: 3 + touch ups.

Two passes, WTG - XTG, then I stop, whatever the result is. Sometimes I cheat and do some small touchups on the chin and near the lips.

I used to have an r41 (2013) and I didn't change anything compared to some medium aggressive razors. Three passes with the second being a sort of mixed direction pass. I sort of incorporate my touch ups with the second pass. It was aggressive but not too much beyond an ATT R2 or Timeless .95. I find the Ikon Standard and Shavecraft Tech to be more aggressive and unforgiving of bad technique. Two passes and done with those.

Currently using Erwin Jagger DE89 but I do find it a bit mild at times.
Should I buy Muhle R41 ?

2 1/2 passes for a BBS shave using short stroke technique.
