Mel Gibson has lost his mind

And I just wanna say, how can anyone here judge him? Do you live next door to him or were actually married to him? The press blow everything out of proportion. If he is a piece of dirt, then fine but I like his movies and his acting so WHO cares? He's a man and I'm sure everyone knows someone whos done worse things.

So it's ok for him to verbally and physically abuse his girlfriend as long as he makes good movies? Or perhaps because "he's a man," and that gives him some sort of right to abuse women?

We can judge him because it is never ok to hit a woman (her dentist will testify during the hearing that Mel knocked a tooth out when he hit her); It is never ok to threaten to kill a woman (he does so multiple times in the second released tape); and It is never ok to insinuate that a woman deserves to be raped (from the first tape).

Mel is a sick man with some major psychological issues. While it's sadly true that he's not unique in that regard, if he did indeed abuse this woman then he needs to pay for it. Period.

If he were a typically person and not a celebrity he would be in a totally different place now.

Rank hath it's privilege and there are ample examples of that.

To me he's just a very nasty bigoted rich man. No shortage of them.

She taped it for divorce court where it would still be admissible as proof of his abusiveness.

Should also note that there is no "freedom of speech" to say whatever you want, whenever and wherever you want. Don't believe me? Go to a street corner in your downtown core at rushhour and scream n**ger, n**ger, n**ger at the top of your lungs and watch how fast you get arrested for disturbing the peace.

"Freedom of Speech" as a constitutional right is the ability to speak out against government without fear of reprisal.

yeah freedom of speech is strictly related to government. also you can't get arrested for yelling that! you might get killed but you certainly wouldn't get arrested.

All actors are insane, and all should be placed in mental institutions. Mel Gibson is not an exception, but rather an example of this.

By a man I meant a human and anyone who knows me knows how much I detest and hate people who abuse women and children. So please don't misconstrue what I said. I don't agree with it at all, and if the evidence is that overwhelming I hope he gets sent to prison for a very long time. But I don't understand why anybody else should be involved? Is it any of my business? Nope. I wouldn't care too much if he got sent down for 10 years. I like his movies. And to be honest thats all I care to know about him. Maybe I am weird for not wanting to hear about all the evil that goes on in this world, but I'd just rather not know the ins and outs, let the judge and jury decide. I don't wanna know. I apologise if anything I said was taken the wrong way or offensively as it was sincerely not meant to.

Hey, let's all send him DE razors and blades, proper English shaving creams, pipes and fine scotches, coffee grinders and pu erh tea, good books and fountain pens. We can make this guy into a gentleman...turn him around in no time. Whaddaya say?

Leaving aside the fact that he's a complete jerk with a screw loose, let's also not forget that just because one has the right to say something doesn't mean one should say it. Just because racist diatribes are "nonPC" doesn't make people who engage in them heroes of free speech.

agreed

All of us Americans need to remember we have Freedom of Speech in the country and that covers unpopular or nonPC speech.

Mel ruff and crude but he got the right to speak his mind.

His looniness might be getting less coverage if he hadn't made his virtue a selling point in his quest for great wealth. When an "artist" sells himself as some kind of religious spokesman, and then trashes another religion in a public, drunken rage; abuses police officers who are called to control him; (allegedly) physically abuses a woman-not-his-wife; and, if the tape is authentic, spews the most foul things anyone can say to a woman, his value as a religious role model is somewhat diminished.

And he won't be getting a dime from me when I go to the movies.

The conversation was taped.

You should really listen to it. I don`t think I have met anyone that would be quite so rude to their wife. His comments were worse than in poor taste. They were cruel, callous and hurtful.

yes you can under any number of charges.

Many states and provinces now have `hate`legislation in place.

What I never have understood is why is it what celebrities think or do is news. Thes athletes/actors may be good at their craft but they tend to not be to informed on any issue and also are usually very self centered.

Because we have a stupid populace who have more interest in the affairs of these people than the governing of the country and afterall how many actors have gone on to political office?

As far as him being a very religious guy the fact he is acting the way he does is a really unique thing for these types eh?
