Masking the smell of witch hazel

I cut mine 50/50 with clubman. I have seen that others do this as well. My motivation was more to gain the benefits of the el cheapo Target WH, not to mask the scent. It seems to go away very quickly anyway....

I just grin through the ugly smell of the WH and once it's dry the smell's pretty much dissapated. Then I put on a splash or balm and that pretty much squelches any remaining WH scent.

Same here. I almost gagged the first time I was exposed to the odor. Now... well... I seem to have become somewhat desensitized to the aroma and don't even notice it after putting on my Dominica Bay Rum or Pinaud Clubman AS.

In time, you will come to love the scent as-is

This. I thought it was pretty nasty (reminded me of olive brine) and almost bought some fruity-scented Thayer's, but I quickly started to like it. Perhaps that's because the smell is now associated with enjoying close and comfortable shaves, but whatever works.

I mix it with some aloe vera gel, a bit of glycerin, and then I add a few drops of peppermint oil until it smells OK.

Feels great, too.

Although I wonder with how much I put in will the product go rancid sooner than not?

None the less the smell is much better just remember to shake the bottle before each use cause the oil tends to separate

I've transferred some (Boot's own brand) WH to 25ml spray bottles then added a couple of drops of EO (just Sandalwood at the moment). The WH doesn't have a very strong/unpleasant odour to start with so this seems to work...doesn't need shaken either as the tube for the atomiser rests on the bottom.

If you don't want to smell it, try Thayers superhazel. It is in a clear bottle with a blue label....12 oz or so for around $8...so not the cheapest, but it has analgesic properties, and a hint of peppermint, so you don't smell the WH at all

So far I've put about 10 drops of peppermint EO, 10 of lavender EO and a couple of cedarwood EO. The underlying smell is still very strong.
