What's new

LRod's Acquisition and everything else Thread!

This time it's UPS though, not USPS! 😂
And it's coming from Canada!
And I've actually been patient this time around.
It went from Canada to the US, back to Canada and now back in the US, all the way here!
The whole story is a few pages back when it's voyage began with updates along the way!
Well of course it did. What did you expect? The ol' back and forth ploy. Gets 'em every time...sigh.

Took the Bronze Blackbird for a spin tonight!
I think It's been like 2 weeks since I used it.
Last time I had mentioned about the "drag" issue and set it aside for a bit
in order to focus on other razors. First couple shaves were really good and then
I started to experience that issue.
Well, I lathered up tonight with more hydration by taking advice from @BigAlVista (Mark).
I bought a mister and used it today with the Blackbird shave.
Not only did I use that throughout the shave but also made a lather that was more wet than my usual
lathers. I guess it's necessary with this razor!
Anyways, I had a fantastic shave and the drag was dramatically reduced.
A very smooth & efficient shave that left my skin feeling great.
Hopefully this is a repeated event with the Bronze Blackbird since it really is a beautiful razor.
So tonight was an A+ for the Blackbird!
Buying a mister dramatically changed my shaves for the better.

Happy Sunday all!
I've been pondering what razors to buy on Black Friday. This is definitely the time to buy and I usually always try to buy this stuff with some sort of a discount. I've got 3 razors lined up for possible purchase. I'm not gonna mention what they are yet till I actually make the purchases in a couple of weeks. Just because I'm not 100% sure and my decision can obviously change.
We'll see what it all ends up being!

Only Three?

My Titanium Guerrilla DC has finally been delivered!
I opted on Saturday to have it re-routed to my local UPS store. I wanted to make sure it arrived safe after the back and forth it's been through.
Better option than UPS just dumping it on my porch without anyone being home.
I'll be picking it up later on today!

Here it is, the first ever Wolfman Guerrilla Dual Comb!
Titanium .69!
It'll be up for tonight's shave with a Personna Lab Blue blade.
Last picture shows my three: Aluminum .69 OC, Bronze .69 OC & Titanium DC .69:

Quick Guerrilla Ti DC first shave report!
I've already expressed all the greatness that the Guerrilla's offer.
I've loved both the aluminum & bronze and now the titanium comes into play.
It's absolutely excellent!
Wolfman did something special where they made the titanium handle solid (the bronze is hollow!)
This makes it feel incredibly robust and heavier than other Ti's.
And somehow they made the whole razor feel centrally balanced even though the head is
extremely light.
With the bronze they managed the same thing by hollowing out the handle.
The right balance is an important aspect of the shave and they really figured out how to make it happen.
They just feel right!

Another thing is the wonderful texture where the handles are smooth but feel grippy.
At no point in time do they feel like they would ever slip.
Now the double comb head:
This has to be the greatest feature where I'd opt for this every time.
First pass:
Right side open comb & left side SB in order to feel the difference in removing full growth.
The difference is that the SB had a miniscule increase in smoothness and a miniscule
loss of aggressiveness as compared to the OC side.
Second pass:
Both sides SB
Result was perfection!
This razor is perfection!!
So the routine will be to use the OC side on the first pass and the SB side on the second pass.
I'm looking forward to every shave that I'll have with this wonderful razor!

Side note:
Would I ever try the WR1?
Probably not!
These are basically the WR1's without the "pretty" factor, without a wait time and for a lot less money.
I'm on the waitlist and was inclined on trying a WR2 as well and have decided not to. Bigger head
for a razor that as I've heard is very close to the Timeless and I've already got one of those in .95.
If anything I'll probably buy (at some point) a titanium Timeless .95 over the WR2.
So my decision when my turn comes around is to go back to a WR3 GEM.
I shorted myself out the last time without giving it enough time when I was just starting with GEM's.
I figured I'd regret selling it and I do!
So soon enough I'll have one again and will keep it this time.
Anyways, I can't recommend the Guerrilla's enough to anyone that might be on the fence.
A remarkable razor that deserves a try.
As always though, YMMV!!

I appreciate dropping by here from time to time just to catch up on what you've got/bought lately. But I cannot keep track all that accurately because you (and your collection) do seem to be in a constant state of flux...and I don't mean capacitors either!

That flux keeps things interesting (and fun!)
Think about how boring my journal would be without it.
You're always welcome here!

Tonight's shave was with the blue cerakote Oliworks Meteorite with the medium plate!
I hadn't used it in quite a few days!
I used an Astra SP (Russia) blade for this shave in order to test it out with a milder than usual blade.
All in all it gave me a fantastic shave. This razor as I've stated before is very smooth.
Efficiency for tonight's shave seems to be where I'd expect it to be.
But tomorrow by early afternoon will be where I actually will know how close the shave was.
Regardless of the predicted results, it's a wonderful razor that is solidly built, super balanced and
a very good performer. This is one of those razors that I'd use when the mood strikes which means
I'll never get rid of it. It's very nice to own!!

Update:
12 hours of smooth face before I started to feel some minor stubble.
Excellent results!!
