Wow I really like these blades. I did not think I would. They are not the closest shave but they seem to help with neck irritation. They seem to be great everyday shavers in a mild razor. Atleast for me. Sharp yet forgiving. I wish I would have tried these sooner. I honestly followed all the hype of other blades while ignoring the lord brand alltogether as subpar. Besides the cool artwork for shark. So what do you guys think? Yay or nay?

I find them relatively user-friendly and non-dramatic. My main knock on them is I like some other blades at the same price point better.

That said, I do reach for them occasionally, and they provide good/excellent shaves. I've shaved with them since 2010, and I always replace the tuck when I finish one.

What other blades do you like better at this price point? Currently I can get these for 9 dollars shipped for 100. They are very drama free and great for a daily shave. If I was to skip a day or two of shaving I would probably reach for something else.

I have to vote nay.

I really like them and have had some good shaves from them in a Fatip, which they pair with very nicely. But having gradually worked my way through 50 or so blades, I had to conclude that they aren't sharp enough to give me a consistently good shave, and I often have to fudge the ATG work.

I ought to try them in some different razors if I still have some around somewhere.

Lord Silver Stars, Sharp Titanium, Lord Cool, Lord Classics, Indian Gillette Wilkinson Swords, Flydear, and some of the newer Dorcos off the top of my head. I'm not saying there is a giant difference, but enough I don't buy the Lord Plats in bulk ( though I might if I got a good deal ).

I consider the Lord Silver Stars the top Lord blade ( YMMV ).

That said, I find the Lord Plats in my Gillette Slim set to 3 or 4 an almost automatic, no-drama DFS shaving combo. I could shave with that combo for the rest of my life if need be.

** Edit: I have some number of 1000s of blades. I love variety so Lord Plats will always be in my shave den. They are the second blade I ever purchased, and in my little Lord L5 razor they delivered many a good shave when I first started out.

Dorco Prime is a notable competitor for a dollar more per 100, and can be discounted to $7 per 100 if you buy in lots of 1000. I think Dorco Prime is substantially better in my experience than Lord Platinum.

I also consider Gillette Nacets better. Get them off eBay shipped from Jordan for $8-$10 per hundred depending on the listing.

Within the Lord/Sotraco family, I prefer the Lord Chrome, Shark Super Chrome, Silver Star, and Lord Cool all better than the Lord Platinum. All these cost $8-$9 per 100. But this is really quibbling.

The deals available on Dorco Prime and Gillette Nacets are the real uptick in marginal utility.

Nacets are awesome but in general they cost more across vendors. I love nacets. Dorco prime was okay but I cannot use them everyday because like feather they are more prone to give me razor burn in my sensitive areas. Atleast that was my first experience with them. I have no doubt that all these blades are cost effective besides nacets. Shark super chrome was good but it wasnt as good or as smooth as lord platinum. Atleast for me. I still need to try lord cools sometime but its gonna be a while I have too many blades right now. I need to work through them for a while. If I shave every other day nacets are great. Dorco prime would probably be great. But with how forgiving lord platinum is for daily shaving I will continue to enjoy them unless I skip a day or so...at that point I may grab another blade. Oh and ive had shark platinum on hand for a while now and thats probably the next blade I will try after this lord platinum im working on.

Silver Stars are on my "To Try" list.
I bought 100 I will be trying them very soon. We will see though. I noticed that platinum coating usually makes a blade smoother atleast for me. I hate when blades are just named something that has nothing to do with what they are coated with. Im assuming if it doesnt say its just stainless steel. I think they should always list coatings on the box.

The way RBC prices them on Amazon, it's hard to see if Lord/Sotraco considers which of their many models the top tier one to buy. Then again, maybe there's not one or ones.
