Looking for Pencil Moustache Advice

Just starting one and find that shaving the top - under the nose, etc. - is tricky. I don't want to use a Wahl trimmer or the like because it doesn't get the bbs that I feel I want there, but using my DE poses problems in and of itself (namely, one slip and I've shaved too much off!).

Anyone have any tricks or tools they recommend?

Have you considered making a template out of thin plastic or something like that? Something that you could hold up on your mustache to guide you and guard what you don't want to shave?

Merkur makes a mustache razor that's purpose-made for this kind of detailing. I believe the model # is 907.
I've seen those but they really don't get great reviews. I expect it's because Merkur's the only one that makes the blades - no other choices?

The Merkur is the only such tool I have found without going electric. Yes, they are the only maker for the blades which are C95 carbon steel. I use mine for edging and shaving between my nose and the mustache. It works for me, but it won't shave as well as your regular razor.

I believe that when those mustaches were popular, they used small, narrow straight razors for the job.

A shavette that uses 1/2 a DE blade might be worth looking into.

Blades can be cut from any blade of choice. 💪

It is called "Determination", have determination, can cut blades!

Back in my youth I did use the single blade bic razor to sport the "cads" moustache. These days I sport the same but go with a first edition Philips one blade.

Here's a cad now, 13th duke of Wybourne
