Loccitane Vetyver

IMHO,

1. Floris Vetiver (out of production)
2. Chanel Sycomore
3. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
4. L' Occitane Vetyver
5. Encre Noir

There are others than i am certain are as good, but I have experience with these.

I really like Guerlain, but I love Creed Original Vetiver. I'll be buying a bottle soon. It's amazing.

Sample first. i tried the Guerlain and it's just OK for me, but you can see that some think it's lovely. Sycomore is a favorite, but to me it had a way too sharp note that offended. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, on the other hand, is my clear favorite.

Any body try Eau des Bavx by L'Occitane? I have a sample of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and I heard Eau des Bavx is suppose to be really similar, but softer and more versatile.

Its good. Its cypress, vanilla and incense. The dry-down is a nice warm vanilla scent. Great longevity but very linear. I wear it quite a-bit in the the colder months. Definitely worth the $50 bucks it costs. Never tried TF TV so I cant compare them.

Initially I enjoyed L'Occitane Vetyver very much. However, after several wearings the powdery dry down became too much for me. I'm not a fan of overtly powdery scents, and I can't tolerate powdery at all in a vetiver scent. Too bad for me.

I really like the Tom Ford Grey Vetiver and the L'Occitane, but the price difference is notable. I don't think I like the Tom Ford over three times as much.

I just picked up a bottle of my first Vetyver (L'occitane) today after hearing so much about it here on B&B and I must say........OUTSTANDING!

So glad I read this thread, Connor. I will head downtown to check it out.
I am also very interested in vetiver recently and I found that Muggler Cologne smells very much like Creed OV. Others will say I'm nuts, but at 5x the price, I'll buy the Muggler and a couple others.

I would like to try Vettiveru, Sycomore, and Givenchy. Guerlain was just ok to my nose. Nothing special.

I enjoy Guerlain and L'Occitane and have sampled many others. My most recent Vetiver purchase was Etro and it is wonderful.

I went to the L'Occitane shop here a week ago to try this out, but it's taken off the line here in Norway for some reason. It really annoyed me because I really want a vetiver. I bought a L'Occitan instead and really like it, but I still want that Vetiver!

Vetyver..Carlo Corinto..Vetiver with the most compelling accords.
Vetiver..Etro..Raw earthy, woody accords well blended with Vetiver.
Vetiver Hombre...Adolfo Dominguez..Soft,and a tad soapy. Wears well in hotter weather.
Vetiver..Annick Goutal..Salty sea like accord, I think blended a tad better than Sel de Vetiver.
Vetiver..Guerlain..2000 formulation..Less Tobacco, and a bit more Citrus than the Vintage.
Vetiver..L'Artisan Parfumeur..A more sheer Vetiver, supporting notes,do not detract from the Vetiver, woody notes present throughout whole progression.
Vetyver..Vintage L'Occitane..More in tune with Vetiver, than woody supporting notes.
Mazzolari Vetyver, Outstanding depth, damn near perfect accords from top to bottom.
Route Du Vetiver..Vintage MPG..Strong earthy Vetiver..
Racine..Vintage.. MPG..Nice balance between Citrus, and Vetiver..Light Vetiver scent..
Vetiver..SMN..The most brash Vetiver I have ever encountered.Bone dry, mixed with light woods.
Vetyver Lanvin (new)..Lanvin..Once again showing the lighter side of the Vetiver note.
Vettiveru..CdG..Wears just like it is, a cologne, but has a little more depth than lets say R&G,so spray away with this one.

These are a few of my favorites, and these I probably enjoy wearing the most of all the Vetivers I own, and wear.

Fresh, clean: Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Creed Original Vetiver

Dark and smokey: Chanel Sycomore

Earthy and raw: MPG Route du Vetiver, Lorenzo Villorersi Vetiver

Green and crisp: Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire, CDG Vettiveru, Dior Vetiver

Benchmark: Guerlain Vetiver

L'Occitane's vetiver note is so subdued its hardly a vetiver. :thumbdown

+1 rundown, couldn't agree more !
