Lets Talk About Mysore Sandal Soap

I have used this soap for a few years now, recently a fine fellow sent me some from a local source in India, it was several powers of magnitude stronger in scent then the many bars before.
I do not know if they have an export product that is tamer or what but it would seem so to me.

lucky

I like the Mysore soap. The Knize is guilty of getting me hooked on it. Been using the powder too.

There is usually a lot number and manufacture date on the boxes. The newer the more powerful. Time, heat, and humidity are the enemies of our soaps!

When it comes to Essential Oils it would seem fresh is always better! :biggrin1:

Used the soap now for several years. And after first hating the talc I have warmed up to it.

If I want a really FRESH bath, nothing beats Mysore Sandal Soap or Chandrika.

Ive been reading all about this soap since joining B&B. Where can I find this? Indian stores? Are those the only Brick and Mortar stores? I noticed Amazon sell them too.

I've never seem it in any brick and mortar, so your best bet would be online or an Indian grocery.

True enough. I picked up a few bars this morning from an Indian grocery in my area. Look for one of these or an Asian supermarket as they are very likely to stock it. Last resort would be ordering online-I know Amazon and eBay have it and others as well including ishopindian.com and smallflower.com.

What were the packaging dates on the box? How much per bar? :001_smile

You got to LOVE B&B! Smallflower is the online site for Merz Apothecary in downtown Chicago. They will be sure to have it!:thumbup:

Got mine at an Indian grocery store for $1.49. It was packed 9/10. It's definitely a strongly scented soap. I don't think I could stand it any stronger. I looked for the powder but they didn't have any by Mysore (Karnataka Mfg.)

They did have some Sandlewood powder by Ponds and I'm thinking this was Ponds India but I'm not sure. I might go back some time and try the Ponds powder.

Oh, it was 150gr. by the way.

Let's see...No packaging date on the box just a batch number and expiration date. Batch number looks like 6no.31 and text says 'best before 04/2013' so the stuff must be fresh. By the way, the bars are plastic wrapped inside the box so they'll probably keep forever. At the Indian grocers, the price for a 75g bar is $1.79 and for a 150g bar is $2.79.

Excellent Prices!

Tried it today for the first time.

Loved it!

Lathers well and the scent is very masculine.

Plus my bathroom smell great all the time now.

Reading the back label it seems that I have about three years to use it.

Got it for $1.79 a bar at a local "Indian" store.
