Knife and Edged Tools Acquisions

Marked down for post-Christmas clearance:

I suppose this was part of some regional costume/regalia?
The only blade mark is CL

Looks like it might be from Sweden, Finland, or 'round. those parts. Sort of puukko looking.
Agreed. The ring (made for attachment to a belt loop) matches that idea as well.

Plus those parts of the world are a hotbed of regional/national traditional dress. And the Pacific Northwest was rife with loggers and fishers of that heritage.

I picked up this folding Hunter pattern knife at a local antique shop this afternoon. The fit and finish is excellent on it. Solid Cocobolo scales, nickel silver bolsters, and no makers mark or country of origin on it.

It’s a bit of a mystery.

Most likely Japanese, I'd say. They were pretty big on doing exact clones of American stuff in the 70's.

Scandi grind, too?
Not the factory scandi grind I am familiar with on modern knives, but a vintage scandi grind.

The CL knifemaker initials are also as often found on Finnish work. There were and are a lot of knifemakers in Finland. Sweden and even Norway are other possibilities.

That is an impeccable folding hunter. Congratulations!
