Kiita & Colored Japanese Stones, Lets See Photos of Your Beauties

Here's my humble contribution. It's a Nakayama Kiita tomo that I got from aframestokyo. Vey easy to raise a slurry with and produces a very nice edge when used with my Ozuku Asagi...

These are some very nice stones. Can anyone tell me what this Kanji I see on a lot of stones means? I am trying to learn some basic stuff and I see it often. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what that specific one means but it was on my maruichi before I lapped it, as you can see in the pictures i posted. I also notice that some of them have 3 stamps and some have 4. I believe the extra stamp was the kamisori stamp??

I believe that is the Maruichi stamp

市印 - Maruichi jirushi, Maruichi brand
特撰 - tokusen, especially selected

Ok Here is my new Nakayama. I just put an edge on my EPBD and when I was doing the HHT a fly tried to land on the bevel and fell to both sides. :scared:

My most recent acquisition. Not exactly what type of stone it is, but after being evaluated by Doc, he most certainly feels it is a Kiita. Puts a nice edge on a razor- fo sho!

Don't take this wrong, Joe, but your stone has one beautiful backside. Looks like it has been bedazzled.

It sure is purty to look at! My only other stone is an Ozudo Asagi which is essentially a very uniform grey. A very nice stone but not much to look at.

Ah, I thought so. I only remember you and Coticules

I have no problem getting very sharp edges with JNats and much easier too but they are never quite as smooth for me. This time around they smoother but still too sharp so far...I need more refinement on my shaving technique for them also.

Okay, now I know I need a kiita too besides my Shobudani. Please give me some advice where I can find something nice for a reasonable price :)

i tried to post a reply to this yesterday, but i couldn't.

very interesting and honest response. over the past couple months i have been wondering about the different techniques required by different size razors and different finishes.
