Karve Delivery Issues

Good things come to those who wait (over 4 months)...

I'll give a breakdown later in the day in the "What Did You Use Today?" thread.

Love the contrast color. Looks really nice and solid. Tbh 4 months is not a big deal.
Thanks! As for the wait, I was originally annoyed back in early January, but after reading the positive comments, I thought it best to wait it out. And besides, it's not like the end of the world without another razor, lol.

As for the color, Wifey loves her dark hues = brownie points

Here are my Karves I received. I have had two really good shave with the Bison. One with the Overlander. I am very please with them.

Congrats to you both! They look awesome and I know you will be pleased.

Whenever (fingers crossed) Chris offers a heavier metal version, I will race to be first in line.

I hate to hear about all the issues. I have a Karve CB with the B OC plate. They do make very nice razors. Now, I wish I would have picked up the CB solid bar C plate before the tariffs and long wait times. I will have to keep my eye on the BST.

its like 3 people that make those razors lol if you order from them you should know what you are getting into. Awesome company. Awesome razors. But its a micro business. You better be patient ordering from them and also the tariffs are getting in the way of small business in other parts of the world. it is what it is. I want one but I dont need one so I am gonna wait until this all blows over before I order. Plus the price will likely be higher once tariffs are finalized. Im gonna save up for a stainless steel. They are not available yet and made to order is over according to the website. Hes now making batches of each razor. Once they sell out you have to wait for a new batch.

It looks like Bisons are the first batch. Order now while they last.
yeah I was tempted to get the glacier color however I do not NEED another razor and I have decided that if I get a razor from them its going to be a Stainless Steel overlander. I already have an aluminum henson and I love it but the heft of stainless steel is so much better.

I got super lucky and was on the hunt for a lightweight aluminum razor and was looking at the Bison. I posted in the BST just in time for @lakeman77 to receive his order and decide it wasn’t for him and he sold me his basically new Bison in glacier color (Great seller btw!)

Used it once so far and was smitten right away.

I have a few shaves in with the Bison.
It is a great shaver for me. It is one of the few razors I have that gets all the whiskers at the corners of my mouth with out any needed end of shave touch up.

I really don't get along with the Bison well at all. Compared to my ti osprey it really feels like it is nowhere as comfortable. Sucks cause it was an absolutely stunning razor in tangerine. Wish Chris would hire another person so that al overlanders could be manufactured.

I just saw from another thread that this message is now on the site. The only razor that is offered is the Bison.

I sure hope that is the case regarding parts. I love my CB, but I want to try some other plates and was planning to drop out of GRUYERE in a controlled fashion at some point later this year so that I could get them (and possibly the same razor in another material too). There's not much point investing in a multi-plate razor system if the plates aren't actually available.

It is clear that some people don't like the wait for Karve razors and it has probably been putting Chris under a lot of stress, but I feel like there has to be a better solution - maybe allowing people to "buy in" to batched runs of particular razors is a good method - that way Chris can dictate the scale and pace of production without demand getting on top of him and stressing him out.

You would publish a product page on the site with a banner that says something like:

Brass Overlander - Next Batch: 50 Units. Manufacturing will begin April 1st with razors shipping from the 7th - 14th.

Then you could have other product pages live at the same time, e.g.:

Stainless Steel Overlander - Next Batch: 20 Units. Manufacturing will begin 14th April with razors shipping from the 18th - 21st.

Brass Christopher Bradley - Next Batch 30 Units. Manufacturing will begin 21st April with razors shipping from the 28th - 5th April.

And so forth. I have no idea if these batch sizes are sensible, but that doesn't affect the concept. If a batch gets full up before the manufacturing date you close it to new sales, but you always have the next few batches live on the site so people can see what runs are coming up and "buy in".

This way, everyone knows exactly what the timescales are for the production of the razor they are looking at and they can choose whether to join a batch based on that knowledge. It also means that us loyal Karve fans don't have to be constantly checking the site to see whether the razor we have been waiting for is finally in stock, or maybe missing out on something we have been waiting a long time for due to pent up demand.

Now it’s all luck based on what’s available in inventory at any given time, caused by the steady stream of complainers.
its like three people making the razors. Im sure made to order was stressful as hell. I think its alot easier to make batches and then present them to the public rather than get a ton of orders all at once and then have your customers wait months for an order. I for one am glad I ordered after the made to order nonsense. I received my bison in 1 day flat. Its too bad the other razors werent available for me to look at or purchase but also the bison takes less work for them to produce. Also most companies dont do made to order. Let alone a small business with three employees. Honestly I think I would be anxious as hell if my order took a super long time to get to me. You dont just drop that kind of money and then wait and wonder for that long.

I absolutely appreciate that Chris doesn't want the stress of the "made to order" route.

Maybe we should wait and see how it works out in practice. I wonder if now he will just get bombarded with emails (which he won't respond to) saying, "When are you next producing razor X in material Y?". If people have no idea when they can get the razor / material combination they want then that will surely affect overall sales volumes. Will I be able to get a stainless CB with the plates I want at a time when I can afford it? Who knows...I sure hope so!

Even if he doesn't do the prepaid batch idea, a simple machine shop schedule on the site would be good, so people aren't completely in the dark about what is coming up on the site for purchase. If you know the razor you want is going to be available in the next few weeks you will probably wait for it - if you are simply in limbo you will probably buy something else instead.

He could even have a poll on the site with a couple of drop-down menus, resetting the count each month, which people can use to "vote" for a razor / material combination they are interested in. That would allow him to assess pent up demand and plan batches accordingly.

Wow...I sure have a lot of ideas.

Looks like the customer has to watch the site and buy when available. Some high end brush makers seem to be like that or maybe they drop a notice on social media that products are out.

People might buy stuff up when it pops up as available and then sell in the secondhand market.

Another thing is the made to order options to choose handle length. He might not make all the options for ready sale.
